Happy Pawlidays!

Hello crafty friends!

I have a cute little project to share with you today - a gift card holder that I've created using my silhouette and the Happy Pawlidays stamp set from My Favorite Things. This gift card holder holds Hershey's kisses so you get a little treat along with your gift card.

I simply coloured the little pup with markers and added some Nuvo drops to give him some shine on his nose and the Christmas lights and then added a pom pom on the end of his hat.

I love this stamp set and can't wait to create more Christmas projects with it!

Hope you all have a crafty weekend!

Thanks for popping by!

Have you heard the news??!!!

... drum roll please ... Are you ready??!! ... Meet the new face of SGD!! That's right ladies, Scrappin' Sheila is handing over her baby to the wonderfully talented & beautiful, Marian Dunn!! I know you will have a lot of questions; all of which I hope to be able to address in an upcoming post   First things first ... SGD is still going strong! SGD is still your number 1 stop for all of your crafting needs (wants!). We are still shipping coast to coast in Canada, with fabulous events & retreats! Starting in December, Marian will be our new owner. She brings with her a passion and excitement for our hobby like never before! The cards were aligned and our paths were meant to cross (thank-you Cindy!). You will LOVE her as much as I do. Just know this; SGD is only going to get better & better!

From Marian:
"Hello SGD!! I'm so excited about this new adventure and look forward to continuing on with the amazing business Sheila has created! Let me tell you a bit about myself .. my name is Marian Dunn - I am a wife of 25yrs and mother to three beautiful children. Well they are young adults now! 22, 17 and 13! When did that happen lol!! I have worked in the financial industry in many aspects from teller to auditor to bookkeeping. I started scrapbooking roughly 22 yrs ago. Going from trying to get every picture in one page to single photo pages, changed the way I actually took pictures. I also love to make cards! I worked for Stampin Up for many years then opened my own little store offering classes for cards/ scrapbooking and many other paper crafts. I also held Friday night crops & events. I lived in Sarnia for the majority of my life & also lived in Dublin Ireland for 6 yrs. I moved to Kitchener 5 yrs ago. Hubby got a great job at the University of Waterloo. Oh forgot to mention, he is a Red Seal Chef. Lol!! I also worked with CTMH. I simply LOVE papercrafting and can't wait to start this journey!! I thank Sheila for being so wonderful in this transition. We hope to make it as smooth of a transition as possible with little disruption to the great service Sheila has provided you all for the past 15 yrs. Thank you so much for this opportunity to do something I'm truly passionate about full time!!"

Scrappin' Sheila:
Well … it’s been quite a ride! I’m not even sure where to begin. To say this was a difficult & emotional decision, is the epitome of the word “understatement”. I’ve only just begun to type this and already I have tears running down my cheek. These are tears of every emotion in the book. I started this business almost 15 years ago. At first I designed albums for people all over Canada and the US. I came to know so many people, one photograph at a time. Anniversary albums, wedding albums, baby albums, heritage albums, birthdays, vacations, retirement, remembrance … and more. From there I opened a small website so that others could do their own crafting, then a beautiful store front, retreats and more! The thing I value most are the friendships. Many of my customers have been with me since day 1. Wow. Seriously, wow! And just even today I filled orders for 5 brand new customers! SGD is here to keep our Canadian gals crafty!!
My family is moving and we put it out to the universe that if we could find the “right” buyer, we would love to see this continue and thrive!! SGD is my baby. I really care and finding the right person just fell into place. Marian, is truly lovely!! You will LOVE her! She’s very excited about this new adventure and I am going to help her get her feet soaking wet!! I have the best customers ever. I truly do. You are patient, considerate, thoughtful … and, damn girls, you are talented!! Women need this. This hobby is so good for the heart and the sole. And yes husbands, it is cheaper than therapy!! LOL! At our most recent retreat, I sat back and listened to the laughter and watched new friendships blossoming all through this hobby we call scrapbooking … again, Wow!
So … what does this all mean? We will be closed Nov 29 – Dec 4. You can still shop 24/7!! Keep those orders coming in!! Orders placed during the turn-over period will start to be processed around Dec. 5. We want to give Marian time to get herself set up and ready to roll. If there is something I cannot get shipped to you prior to Nov 29, I will be leaving detailed notes for Marian, so she can be sure to get you all of those needs!! Ahem … Ok, wants!! If you are shopping for Christmas, get your orders in asap so we can get a head-start on them :) Husbands, did you hear that!! Get on it boys!!
If you have an outstanding backorder &/or pre-order, that I cannot get shipped to you by Nov 29, I will be issuing you a refund (if applicable). I will be sure Marian has all of these notes, so that she can follow up with your items in December. My goal is to make this transition go as smoothly as possible for both you & for Marian 😊
Retreat!! We have had so many ladies asking about our next retreat! Well I’m happy to report that Marian will be hosting the SGD retreat at the amazing Oakwood Resort in Grand Bend May 25 – 27 of 2018!! I will be helping Marian get the ball rolling. If your name is not already on the list, please contact me ASAP if you’d like to be added. Spots will be sold on a first come basis and you just know it will sell out! And for those of you wondering, YES, my name is on that list to go as a guest!!
I am looking forward to working on my own crafting projects, right along beside you, at Marian’s events and retreats! You can’t get rid of me that easy!!
I will be at our final two pop-up shops, Nov 23 & Nov 24 from 10am – 7pm … if you can, pop on by! I’d love to see you!
We will be bringing as much of our on-line store as my car can hold!! I will be back in the office on Monday and starting Nov 29 our turn-over will begin.
As with any transition like this, there are bound to be a few bumps along the way. These little bumps are nothing we can’t work out together.
We appreciate your patience & understanding while we work through this change-over period.
Let’s keep Marian super busy as SGD welcomes a new leader! Welcome Marian!!
Remember to hug someone you love each & every single day …
Sending you all, super big hugs!!
Sincerely, Scrappin’ Sheila! XOXO

Use Your Paper Collections in Different Ways

Good morning, everyone. Today, I wanted to show you a layout that I created about my grandson. Harrison had his tonsils and adenoids out last Monday and we went to see him yesterday. His diet now consists of popsicle, ice cream and warm hot chocolate. I chose these papers because he is wearing blue and white striped p.j.s in my photos of him and there were some stickers related to Hot Chocolate. This line is from Echo Perfect and is called "A Perfect Winter". Here are some of the papers that I had on hand.

As you can see. the papers focus on Winter, Snow, etc. I used the Plaid Paper that was on the background of the first paper on the left and also used the third paper from the left. Here is the layout:

The large 4 x 6 Card on the left was perfect for the theme of my layout and the colours will match his p.j.'s. Now I just have to get my photos printed!!!

So don't forget that even though a paper collection focuses on one particular theme, sometimes, you can use the same papers for a different purpose.

Sealed with a Kiss!

Happy Saturday, my crafty friends!

Hope you are all doing well and planning some time to craft this weekend! I've been a bit craft crazy lately (but I love it!!) - I attended our fabulous retreat a couple of weeks ago and I'm also in craft shows two weekends in a row. 'Tis the season to be crafting with Christmas fast approaching!

I wanted to share a couple of tags with you that I made from the adorable Lawn Fawn stamp and die set called Sealed with a Kiss.

For the first tag, I used my Derwent Intense pencils to shade my seals in Neutral Grey and gave them Carmine Pink cheeks. I created the icebergs above the water from vellum and the icebergs below water from white cardstock - both ripped freehand. For the water, I used Peacock Feathers Distress Oxide Ink and then sprayed it with water and dabbed with a paper towel to create the splashes. I embossed the sentiment with white embossing powder.

On my second tag, I again used Derwent pencils in the same colours. I traced a tag shape onto the Simple Stories Very Merry paper and cut the tag out by hand. I had an old stamp set that had a santa hat in it, so I added that to my sweet little seal to give him a bit of Christmas charm and finished it off with a tiny pom pom.

This tiny set is just perfect for cards and tags! I love a set that is versatile for multiple purposes and this would be great to stamp on the back of your envelopes or for Valentine's cards too!

Thanks for stopping by!

Pointsetta Christmas card!

Happy Friday! Hope your week is going well, I have been working on some Christmas cards.
Sharing one with you today, I made with this set from Kaiser Kraft .
I started with a piece of watercolour paper and heat embossed the three pointsettas in gold, I used some re inkers to watercolour them quickly and cut them out.  On a cream piece of paper, I used the stencil from Tim Holtz with a clarity brush and some forest moss ink. The sentiment is also heat embossed with gold. The flowers have some foam tape behind them. In my stash I found some gold sequinces and added them to my card with a bit of wink of stella on the flowers.
This card came together pretty quickly, just how I like it. Hope you do too!
                                               Till next time, Anja
