Mason Jar Snow Globes

Good morning everyone!!  I wanted to share a craft my boys and I made last weekend.  Mason Jar Snow Globes!  They are gifts for their teachers and one for each of them to keep. (I may have made one for me too!)  The snow man are white pom poms glued together with red ribbon scarves, black pearl buttons, clear rhinestones coloured black for the eyes and orange for the "carrot" nose.  We used Tim Holtz's trees and sprayed them green with my Dylusion sprays (Pesto and Martini).  The little wooden shapes, snow flakes and candy canes I had in my stash, and we just used a mix of dry glitter for the snow. (Some of the glitter clings to the glass making it look a little like a snow storm!) We painted the lids red and added some little lights.  It was a very fun project!

Christmas Tags

Good morning, everyone! This year, I have been changing out my Christmas d├ęcor to be a bit more rustic. When I saw the line of Christmas papers from My Mind's Eye, I knew that I could use these papers to make some Christmas Tags. I first started making text boxes in Word and drew the text boxes to measure 4 x 2 inches. I then used Right Justify and typed the names of each of my family members (I was being lazy!). I printed several sheets of these using a beige cardstock. Next, I cut some green/red cardstock at 1 3/4 x 1 3/4 inches to act as a background on each tag. Then, using the various papers from MME "Sleigh Bells Ring", I cut out squares measuring 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches. Finally, I cut out various small die cuts using my dies from both Memory Box and Impression Obsession. I also outlined many of the squares using a Tim Holtz Walnut Stain marker. I hope you like them.

Now all I have to do is get wrapping!!!

Colorful Brush Strokes JustRite

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my card for this up coming Donate to Create. This will be the last one for this year. Where has the time gone? Anyway, thought we would make a non Christmas Card. I picked colours that would  bring us a little sunshine. I used the Colorful Brush Strokes stamp set from JustRite. I just fell in love with this stamp set.  I can see my self using this in my Art Journal. Of course I had to use some type of bling, so I used some sequins.

I know it is a busy time of the year but I hope to see you this up coming Wednesday. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

How to use metal dies and line them up with stamped images

Happy Saturday!!!

I wanted to share this video as I have struggled when lining up dies that are not cut out in the middle. The challenge is that you can't see the image you have stamped so at times it can come out off centre. Meaning every time I try to use them lol!!!

Taylored Expressions carries dies and matching stamps at SGD and have a great video explaining how. I love it!! I would also recommend keeping the paper cut out that she shows you how to create with your die to help save time in the future.

In today's Daily sale there is a Taylored Expressions stamp and die on sale!

Hope this helps you as much as it did me!

Watercoloured poppy card!

Happy Friday! A Poppy card today.....stepping outside the Christmas box, lol....my creative juices are not really flowing....when life gets busy that usually happens, but I did spend some time in my craft room and I have wanted to try this technique for a while, so here it is....
I started out with a piece of watercolour paper, 3 1/4 x 5, and stamped the poppy stamp from Penny Black with Versafine black, before I sprayed water on the paper I made sure the image was dry. With a watercolour brush  I painted the flower, using Tim Holtz markers, barn door, fired brick and forest moss.
When I was done colouring , I used my heat gun to make sure this was all dry. Then I took the stencil from Penny Black and I inked up the back with my Tim Holtz barn door and mustard seed inkpads and sprayed water on it, then I carefully placed it around the stamped image and patted it down, and slowly removed it again. With the heat gun I dried the ink again, then I added some more splatters of barn door. I put my marker on a plastic lid, spray water on in and with a paint brush I tap some splatters on.
Some black, shiny paper to mat and some twine to finish it off. I learned about this technique a while ago from the Penny Black blog, this is where Heather Telford showed it to us!

"January" Calendar Class

Good morning, everyone. Today, I wanted to share with you the first layout that I have created for 2015. I have been teaching a Calendar Class for several years and have watched the children of the ladies who have taken the class grow up. This is a great way to get at least one layout done each month to record your year. For those who take all the classes in the year, Sheila offers 50% off an album. The same applies if you just buy the kit for each month. For January's layout, I used the Bo Bunny "Altitude" collection as well as a Memory Box Snowflake and a Snowflake Collection from I.O. I also got out my Diamond Stickles to add some glitter.

Hope you have a great week!
