Hello Bunny!!

Happy Friday! Isn't this bunny the cutest thing ever?? I thought so, when I found this surfing some blogs, I had to try make one and share it with the ladies on Thursday!

It is from Dawn, you can find her video here. She is an incredible artist!!! I didn't have all the punches she used , that is no problem, I used my Nestabilities and whatever else works for you. Look in your stash and I am sure you can make one too with Dawn's perfect instructions!

Till next time, Anja

Cats and Scrapbooking......

....................do not mix!!! I know, big surprise there!! In my house, my 2 orange tiger cats LOVE to be in the center of everything. A large group of kids would scare most cats into hiding for days. Not my two. They want to be right there, in the middle of the mayhem, watching, taking it all in. They are also scrapbooking cats. I sit down at my table and they magically appear. This wouldn't be an issue if they lied at my feet and kept my toes warm. (Note: Craft room is in the basement!) No, they want to be ON the table. They want to lie right in front of me, ON my project. They want to play with the buttons, the brads, the ribbon.....VERY hard to get crafty when I have two "craftier" felines!! Not to mention, their litter box gets to be in my craft room too. Lucky me! To top it off, not only do I have the cats, their waste, I also have my beagle whining at the baby gate that is across the entrance because he wants to be where the cats are. And that is just the animals, don't get me started on the kids and husband!!!

How can I get any scrapping done???? The answer....CROPS!! More specifically, ALL DAY CROPS!! 12 hours of uninterrupted craft time. HEAVEN!!! What could be better???!!! Thanks for asking.....the answer......

Tim Holtz demo from Summer CHA- let's talk inks baby

Tim Holtz talks to us...yes US...like Sheila, Kim and I..about his inks. Oh and some other ladies were there but it was pretty much just between us four obviously hee hee. I did have to shorten the video a wee bit to get it to upload. What I cut was the question:

Can you make your own distress stains by taking some re-inker and adding water?

Tim says NO. The reason being is that once you add the water to the re-inker you have used up it's 'distress ability'. The water activates the ink and before you have even used it you can manipulate it no further.

Good to know!

This video is long so you may want to grab a cuppa before starting it hee hee. Kim P and Lori- this is for you baby!

Oh- and our garage sale this weekend looks to be shaping up to be our busiest evah! Don't forget that you can still look through the boxes tomorrow and many will have been reduced in price!

Big Shot workshop - part 1

Hello Stampers!

Happy Monday!  I hope everyone had the gorgeous weather that we had in London on the weekend?

Today I'd like to share with you some of the things I love to use my Sizzix Big Shot machine for!  I'm preparing a workshop for April to show some of the many ways you can use this great tool.

1.  Embossing
Embossing is to create a "raised" pattern on your card stock.  The reverse would be de-bossing, which is to create an indented pattern on your card stock.  You can use ink, powder, and heat to stamp and create an embossed pattern.  You can also use a stylus of some form, usually with a grid.  The easiest way is to use an embossing tool with a pattern already on it - to run through your Big Shot (or other machine).  There are lots of different types of embossing tools, but one of the most popular, and my favourites, is the embossing folder.  They come in all sorts of shapes & sizes (and personally - I can't understand why someone doesn't make a 6" x 6" one!).  These are very easy to use and come in a few different sizes.  You just put your card stock in the folder - and run it through your machine.

p-41962.jpg
p-41779.jpg
You can also get embossing plates which work in basically the same way - except you create your own sandwich with your plates.  They're not as common any more.
There are so many different brands of these versatile tools - and co-brands as well.  For example - Tim Holtz makes some for Sizzix.  And Basic Grey have some with Sizzix as well.
Here are some brand new ones - that are reversible!  What a great idea - two different looks out of the same folder!  These are from Spellbinders
p-43031.jpg
p-43029.jpg

Here are some cards I've made which show you an embossed area that I've created with an embossing folder.

From Tim Holtz workshops, I've also learned that it can be fun to sand that raised pattern - and then ink it - to create different effects.  This works really well if you're using Tim Holtz Kraft core card stock - because it has a cool kraft centre - instead of traditional white!  You can see where I've done that on this card.
Just to add some MORE options, there are now these cool "two-in-one" folders that emboss AND die cut at the same time!  How cool is that?  They're by Marianne Designs.
p-43246.jpg
p-43245.jpg

My co-diva Anja - has some beautiful cards on her blog made with these folders.
IMG_0704.JPG.jpg

So that's it for part 1 - part 2:  Die Cutting!

Please share your comments - and ideas for other great ways to use your Big Shot.  I'll draw one comment next week to win a great EMBOSSING prize!

Heart is Home.......

a quick share with you this morning~ I made this sweet gift set with Authentique Paper. Sheila is sold out of this line specifically, but I was thinking that you could make something strikingly similar with the Bo Bunny Market Collection Pack.

I like how the stickers can make up the main focal point of your card. Makes a project work up quick and easy~

I wasn't sure about leaving the reverse did of the dp exposed on the interior of the card, but I liked it and in fact added the house sticker to emphasize the Heart is......Heart IS home isn't it?

Double sided heavy weight Designer Paper is perfect for your gift boxing needs! No need to cut with cardstock and decorate with DP, as long as the goodies that you're putting inside aren't too heavy

Additional Supplies used on this project?

Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Brushed Corduroy

Hope this little project adds to your inspiration!

Masculine card

Happy Friday! Are you enjoying the wonderful weather???

Today I am sharing a masculine card with you, as soon as I saw this stamp from Hero arts, ideas popped up in my head. On my blog I will share more cards with this stamp later on. I stamped it on kraft cardstock, and popped up the 2 middle buildings. The sentiment is from Just Rite happy everything tag kit. All the windows, and I mean ALL the windows have glass effect gel on them from Viva. Along the bottom I have used a Fiskars punch, doesn't it look like a road? The strip of dp on the top is from Echo park, Times and seasons.

Thanks for stopping by!! Till next time, Anja

Shabby White Embossing Enamel

Hi Everyone,
Happy Wonderful Wednesday. Today at the store I am going to be demonstrating how to use the Shabby White Embossing Enamel by Stampendous. New best product today. Love it.

This is a simple tag using a stamp from Technique Tuesday called Carefree Cosmo.I like using Versa Fine ink to stamp detail images.

After stamping my image I put small amounts of the Embossing Enamel on top of the tag, anywhere. I was trying not to cover up the words. With this Embossing Enamel you heat it from underneath your tag. Click here to see the video on how to do this.

You can also emboss on your ribbon but instead of using an ink, you use a glue pen and sprinkle the embossing powder on top and heat. Just make sure you are not to close to your ribbon with the heat gun.

Bo Bunny pop up Card and BLOG CANDY ALERT!!

I figured it was about time I finished some of my cards from the Bo Bunny event a few weeks back that I attended at SGD. It was soooo much fun! I can't wait for our SGD first ever weekend retreat coming up in April either! April 20th-22nd to be exact- woot woot!

This card is made using some of the Bo Bunny Country Garden line. Love the soft colours and butterflies. Joanne from Bo Bunny was a hoot and I loved how simple she made this pop up card- instruction wise I mean. Nice and easy to follow hee hee. I used lots of the Country Garden stickers that came in the kit she gave us and that we also have at SGD. I added some bling and ribbon- because everything is better with bling. Who's with me!

I have not looked outside yet to see what the day's weather has brought us as I am holding onto the Spring feeling this card gives me. It makes me feel so good in fact that I think a giveaway is in order:

Leave a comment on this post saying what you love about Spring and I will do a draw next Saturday for a 6x6 Bo Bunny paper pack.

If you share this giveaway on your blog, Facebook or Twitter please leave a second comment indicating how you spread the word to increase your chances to win.

Hugs to you!

Happy Friday!! Lots of new products arrive all the time at the store.....and some end up in my craft room, LOL! Today I am sharing a quick card with you, love it when that happens.

The background is embossed with a Crafts Concepts embossing folder, the butterfly is from Marianne Design, I sprayed it with Shimmer Goosebumps and I inked the edges. And those lovely corners.....from Cheery Lynn, 3 in a set and there are a couple different sets! The sentiment is from Hero/Sizzix Labels fancy, stamped on a label from MFT. Of course I had to add some liquid silver pearls from Viva. It didn't take me too long to make this card, with the right tools everything is possible, LOL!

Die-Versions-Whispers-Cottontail-

I'm Back.
Hi everyone. I am back from my wonderful holiday in the sunny south. Had a great time and it was restful.

I did this card up for Wonderful Wednesday Product Talk today. This is one of many new products Sheila has in the store. This is a die cut from Die-Version. These are made to be used in any die cutting machine. The key is to know how much pressure you need for all the fine pieces to come out. Here is the link for the youtube on this product.

The cute little Bunny is called Cottontail Whispers. Very simple but clean card.

Also here is the link for making the tiny bow with a fork.

Thanks for looking and have a great evening, sorry a little late in posting. Still in vacation mode.

the many uses of distress ink

Hello stampers!

If you've ever taken one of my classes you'll know of my love for Tim Holtz distress inks!  I use them on almost every project I make.  And if you were lucky enough to score some ink pads during Sheila's last 40% off special, you might have a few colours to choose from in your stash too!

But what you might not know is how many different things you can do with those inks!

1.  I use them almost every time I colour an image, to edge the paper.  If I'm colouring with my Copics on Copic XPress it paper, then I will use the foam blending tool to add some colour to the edges.  You can see that here.
In this example, I've left the image IN the Spellbinders Nestabilities die - to create a frame - and then sponged with distress ink.  My favourite colour for this technique by the way is Antique Linen.

2.  Obviously, you can stamp with them too!  They come in a beautiful array of colours.  If you stamp an image with your distress ink - I suggest that you dry it with your heat tool to speed up that drying process.  You can see where I've done that here.
That fabulous pink I've used for the heart is Worn Lipstick.

3.  Watercolouring!  My new favourite thing.  I'll soon teach a class at SGD on this technique.  I stamp onto watercolour paper with permanent ink (I like Ranger archival ink) and then heat set it.  Then you can pick up colour in 2 ways:  either dab your ink pad onto your craft matt - or use the re-inkers into a paint palette.  Then, use a damp brush to pick up the ink - and colour away!  Here's a Magnolia (sorry Sheila) that I've coloured in that way.
And here is a tip for you - go to the Ranger website and print off the colour chart.  You'll also find a chart for the Stickles, labels for your distress inks, and many other cool things!  Here is what my chart looks like.

Now to you - share with me your thoughts about Tim Holtz distress inks - and I'll pick a comment to win a prize!  I'll draw on Thursday!

Happy stamping!

Another Random Act of Kindness!!!

Well, it is that time again!!! The time to say thank you for your kind words!!! This particular email stood out to Sheila and she would like to respond with a little bundle of goodies for....

MYRNA SWEET!!!!

Here is what Myrna had to say:

Sheila: I just received my first order from your company. I just HAD to write to tell you how impressed I was. The Werthers was a nice touch and my favorite. I have since placed another order for the new spellbinders products at 25% off. Upon looking at your website I must say that your upcoming yardsale for customers is brilliant idea! I just wish I lived closer to your area because your business sounds like not only do you have great business sense, but great products, classes and know what your customers are looking for--and you have fun doing it. I will certainly make it a priority to come out to see the store and perhaps take a class the next time I am visiting my friends in London.

yours truly,

Myrna Sweet

Thank you very much Myrna!!! You made Sheila's day!! We hope you enjoy your goodies!!!

March Card kits are available and there are even a few in the store!

Happy Saturday!

Andrea here and I am sharing the 2 card designs you can make with this month's SGD card kit! You will have enough supplies to make 3 of each style giving you six cards in total with enough left over to make more if you wanted.

In your kit this month is the My Mind's Eye Miss Caroline Fiddlestick's set. Love! I really was excited to use this set this month as it has fun elements to stamp, border stamps and a sentiment. Covers all the bases!

Grab one of these kits while they last- I think only 3 left!!

Cheers, Andrea

You are special!

Happy Friday!! Today a card for all of you!!!

I have used a variety of products, who says you don't need it all, LOL! Hero/Sizzix came out with a couple of new stamp/die sets, here I am using the THIS one. The background is stamped with TH scattered straw, and the stamp is from Bo Bunny, it makes a perfect frame if you stamp two dragonflies side ways. The swirl in blue on the left is a Heartfelt Creations die, and I only used part of the die. The flower is made with a punch and the center is 2 little flowers from Punch a bunch. Some branches from a Martha Stewart punch and black pearls done with a Viva pearl pen.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by, Anja
