Art Journalling and Image Transfers!!!

Kim and I have our next Art Journalling class this Friday night, May 17th and the focus this month is on Image Transfers using Gel Mediums.

Using images from an ink-jet printer, copied onto plain white paper, you are able to transfer that image onto your art journal page by applying a Gel Medium to the image on the paper, place the paper image side down on the journal page, rub, wet, remove the paper and voila! the image is transfered!!
HUGE DISCLAIMER: Sometimes it works...sometimes it doesn't!!!!! :)
It's a bit of a mystery why doesn't produce consistent results but as there are no mistakes, only creative opportunities in the world of mixed media...it is all good!!!

If you are interested in joining us and exploring the world of Mixed Media, please register today!!!  All you need is your own Art Journal!!! PLUS:: For Friday's class, students are asked to bring a few photographs that have been printed onto plain white paper from an ink-jet printer.  Can be anything at all ... a tree, a flower, your child, a building - anything!!  Click here to register online or phone the store at 519-473-5751!!

Hope to see you there!!!!

  1. Hi Lori & Kim, One must remember to reverse the image before printing, or lettering will be backwards on the transfer. Also, the faster one can transfer after printing yields better results. Is usually best if printed the same day; old printed copies will not work. Have fun!TTFN, Deb

    1. Thanks Deb, we'll be covering those items in the class on Friday night! I have transferred images from year old copies successfully and have had same day copies not work. Same technique, like I said, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. However it turns out, it is still loads of fun!!
