I really like the orange & salmon tones mixed into the paper, adding a little touch of boyishness!!  I also used a new Memory Box Stencil "Heart Confetti" and some Distress Ink (Barn Door) to add the hearts in the punched out circles. A Fairy with a Twist!

Good morning everyone!  I have been colouring this Penny Black image "Fairy Holly", for awhile now.  I finally finished her last week. I used my Derwent Inktense Pencils. I have coloured her previously in a more traditional fashion, but wanted to try something new....Black!  So happy with how her dress folds turned out!  I fussy cut her out when I was done, and popped her up on the background.  The white cardstock was embossed with a Taylored Expression Folder "Winter Flurry", and then I used Wink of Stella Clear Glitter on the Snow Globe and the snowflakes.  Quite a different look for a Christmas/Winter Card!

Iris Folding

Good Morning Everyone,

For next Wonderful Wednesday will be making a Valentines Card using Iris Folding. What is Iris folding you ask, well it is a technique that involves folding strips of paper in such a way it forms a design. There are lots of sites to get patterns for Iris folding. This is the site  where I got the heart pattern. I cut the heart out with my Silhouette because I didn't have a heart shape die cut. I used wrapping paper to do the folds because  I found using designer paper a little thick.

  1. If you do come out you will need a bone folder, scotch tape, scissors and foam pop ups. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

A Taylored Expressions Tea-Riffic card

I fell head over heels for this amazing set by Taylored Expressions. Not only does Tea-Riffic focus just on one of the loves of my life- tea- but it comes with a die to match! Yep- it was destined to come home with me!

I coloured it up with my copic markers and added some glaze to the cups. Enamel dots, pastel paper and a ribbon helped set this birthday card up.

Grab this set before it's gone!

Happy Crafting!

Simple sympathy

Happy Friday!
Sharing another card with you today. A sympathy card this time, I like to keep those simple.
I am falling in love with watercolouring.....it's so easy....and you can do it with your distress inks. Just put your inkpad upside down on your craft mat and spray some water on it. Use a good quality watercolour paper, I like this one,  and make it wet before you put any colour on and just have fun!!! Once your piece is dry, stamp over it with Versafine black. Here I have used this set from PENNY BLACK , this set has a couple of different little birds to add a nice touch. The sentiment is from Just Rite. On the left side I scored some lines, it is hard to see in the picture. Hope you like it! Till next time, Anja

Ombre Inspired

Good Morning Everyone,

I was checking out Pinterest last night to get some ideas for my card for today. I was searching the Memory Box Cards Board on Pinterest and I found this card using the ombre glitter technique. They used the La Rue Heart die from memory box and of courseI didn't have that one, so I used the Mod Flower Background die.  You could use the new die from Memory Box called Ferrand Heart.  I love the effect of the glitter but my camera skills don't do it justice.

Hope you give this technique a try. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Scrappin Great Deal's First Mood Board Challenge

Hello friends! We are tickled pink to present Scrappin' Great Deals' 1st Mood Board Challenge! Use the below images as inspiration to create a layout (single or double), canvases, art journal pages, tag or card. It is that easy!

According to the Oxford Dictionary a Mood Board is defined as "an arrangement of images, materials, pieces of text, etc. intended to evoke or project a particular style or concept. You may be inspired by the colors, objects, feel or whatever the image represents to you. The winner, selected at random, will receive a $20 gift card to Scrappin Great Deal's and be our featured guest designer for the following month!

Let's take a look at what the Diva's have created!

First up, we have this shaker card from Trish and Becky. The dynamic duo was "inspired" by many things in the pictures. "The heart shape of the babies hands and the sentiment made me think of love, unconditional love! The blocks, on my card, with the word "Love" on them represents the love letters photo and I have wrapped string around my card like the love letters that are bound together. I have used the color pink like the phone booth picture. The sequins that sparkle and shine like the lights glowing in the tree picture."

Next we have this stunning card from Anja. She was "inspired by the pictures and by the soft colours... a touch of earthy colours inspired the flowers and birds." The shine comes from the clear embossing powder on the bubble stamp from deep red. The flowers and bird from penny black. Distress inks: spun sugar, pumice stone and tumbled glass.

Prepare yourself! We now have this striking canvas from our Diva Lori! She was inspired "by the concept of loving and laughter leading to a beautiful life. The canvas was a gift, celebrating a new beginning, and a reminder to make your life worth remembering. I also loved the teal colours and the sparkle!"

Here is the double layout created by me (Lynn!). I was inspired "first by the baby picture which reminded me of my middle son who loves to make the heart shape with his hands. The day these pictures were taken only my son's laughter could be heard throughout the studio. And I remember thinking what a beautiful life. Thank you Barb Weir photography. The light reflection in the tree inspired the sequence and glass bead covering of the snowflakes. The colors of the phone booth and letters were the inspiration of the BoBunny Paper".

The rules:
1. Have Fun. Be inspired.
2. Tell us how the mood board inspired you.
3. Link up to your specific blog post. (just not your general blog). Mention that you are participating in the Scrappin Great Deal Mood Board and link back to this post. If posting your creation to facebook, pinterest, twitter please use the hashtag #scrappingreatdealsmood.
4. Don't have your own blog? Send your name and picture of your creation to lynnshaffer7@live.ca and a short description of how you were inspired. (in the subject line indicate #scrappingreatdealsmood
5. Projects have to be new as of today's date. (No back linking please)
6. Contest is open till February 14th, midnight.

Hope you will play along!

Wonderful Wednesday Trailing Ivy

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my card for our next Wonderful Wednesday. Because of the storm last Wednesday I couldn't do my card, so we are going to do it this up coming Wednesday.

I am using paper from Kaisercraft called Blue Bay. The die is from Creative Expressions, this one is called the Trailing Ivy. I used plain green card stock to cut the ivy out but you could use white card stock and colour with your copic markers.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

My craft room tour- Andrea Murdock

Hello!!!

I have been asked by several of you to share my craft room so I finally put together a quick video. If it is blurry click on the settings button (looks like a cog wheel) and change it to a higher resolution like 360p or 480p. I repeat myself a lot in it and I didn't know I sounded so nasally ha!

Hope you enjoy it and let me know if you would like any more videos on the subject.

Cheers, Andrea

Believe- Candy Cane Lane by Bo Bunny

Hi Peeps! I haven't posted on the blog for quite awhile, but wanted to share my fun layout as I know that Sheila still has some Candy Cane Lane papers and embellies in the SGD stash!

I've made more me time and so with that, I have some time to read blogs and see what's happening out there in the paper crafting world. I came across this fabulous sketch challenge on the Bo Bunny site and I just happened to have a couple of collections on hand! Bo Bunny is one of the lines I follow and tend to be attracted to!

You can find the Sketch Challenge HERE

I have some Altitude on order and can't wait for the new collections to come available at Scrappin' Great Deals!

For this layout, I used a photograph from 2000. For all of you that know Jonathon, you might remember him as a sweet little sprite. Mischievous, yet so endearing. I remember that he used to like to crawl under the table during my card classes, much to the Chagrin of one of my stampers. Don't think she was a "kid" person! That Christmas, Jon was SO excited for Santa to come. This was also a time that he was quite happy to pose for me and ham it up for the camera. Those days are long gone and Christmas is just not quite the same, but I have the beautiful memory and am hopeful that although Jon says he's not bringing more children in the world, that he'll have a change of heart one day and I'll have a Grand to spoil!!!!

I made use of the Stickers in the Candy Cane Lane Collection as some of the strips in the sketch
As well, I used the Layered Chipboard and Regular Chipboard for my title

I love the heritage feel of the designs in this paper. Photo's of me as a child are pretty scarce, but I think there is one or two of me by the Christmas Tree. I hope to find them so I can make use of all the Candy Cane Lane yumminess!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday! Any big plans? I plan to work on some Art Journalling, enjoy a long walk with Syd, weather permitting and just stay cozy and warm inside!

Happy Scrappin'

-Vicki~~

Mixed media card

Happy SNOW Day! Lots of snow here in my corner of the world!
And crazy cold, perfect day for staying inside and do some crafting, if you can.
I am totally into making mixed media backgrounds and turning them into cards with dies....can you tell?
So here I have another one of those cards to share, this background started out with derwent pencils, put on some heavy colour and blend it out with some water, then I sprayed on the twig stencil with a blue dylusions and some white linen dylusions splatters and to finish it off  a Memory Box die.
Once the derwent layer is dry, the ink is permanent so the dylusions don't change that anymore, totally different than when you spray them on distress inks, both techniques give different looks, love all the options!
I matted the whole piece on silver Mirri board onto a white card . Hope you like!
                                                       Stay warm, Anja

Need some inspiration? Want to see a stamp set/die in action?

Happy first Saturday of January!
I hope you survived the holiday season
I had house guests from Ireland for 3 weeks!
While it meant lots of noise and dirty dishes I wouldn't change a thing
Except for snow….
they came hoping to experience a white Christmas
Oops! LOL

Today I wanted to share how I find out if a stamp/die is the one for me

Do you ever look at a product and need to see it in action?
Almost all companies have galleries showcasing their products
Not only does it make me inspired with the stamp I want
but I usually find out ones I didn't think I need I now do!

Here are some great links to see some inspiration to help you with your choices!

You get the idea!!!
So next time  you are wondering what a stamp or die would look like in a project don't hesitate to visit the company's website!

Happy Crafting!
Andrea

Clean and simple!

Happy New Year to all of you!!!
Starting the new year off with a simple card, I was playing with my Derwent Inktense Pencils and thought of a new way to use them.....I just made it up....I scribbled bright blue, iris blue and violet on my craft sheet, sprayed some water on it and then I rolled it over with my brayer onto a piece of watercolour paper.
Really like how soft the colours showed and how you can still see some of the structure from the paper.
Then I took my white linen Dylusions spray, opened the top and splattered on some white dots.
Sentiment is from Paper Smooches and the flowers are a Memory Box die. Matted the whole piece with black and put it on a white card. Hope you like it!
                                     Till next time, Anja
