The die is from Memory Box, a  row of poppies, and who doesn't love poppies? The sentiment is from a Penny Black set and the bird and butterfly are from a cute set from Prima. Embossing folder from Darice, some twine and Viva pearls. As a finishing touch I put on some glaze over the flowers, the butterfly and the bird. Hope you like it! Till next time, Anja

How to make a Sympathy or Holiday Peace Strip Card

A fabulous video!

Why every crafter needs Gelatos, stamps and stencils

Hello my crafty friends. Lynn here today sharing a few pictures of my fabulous vacation with the kids.

We love crafts! This week was so very hot in Southern Ontario we worked in the shade or indoors during the afternoons.
We made our own shirts! But if you see in the center of the table are stencils. I pulled out my stencils for the kids to follow the design.

I have collected a few stencils over the years. But my daughter really enjoyed making the small hearts on her t-shirts.

I also love the Faber Castle Gelato's for the kids.
For so many reasons!

I laid a craft mat out and make small color circles. I then gave the kids water brushes and they used their own gelato colors.

The kids loved the gelato's because of their bright colors. Each child had their own section with their own color so no arguing. they picked colors that suited them. And the clean up!!!! WoW

I also used some of my Prima and Tim Holt stamps too!!!

Don't forget the 12 hour sale! It's Tool Time at SGD!  Jump on over to our Tool Gallery and save 20% on oodles and oodles of fabulous tools!!  Includes: Memory Box, Spellbinders, Cheery Lynn, IO, Frantic Stamper, Sue Wilson, Tim Holtz & sooo much more!!  Excluded: special orders, pre-orders, orders already placed, clearance, sale items.  Hurry, ends Thursday, July 30 at midnight. "August" Calendar Class

Happy Monday, everyone. This week I wanted to show you the layout that I designed for my "August" Calendar Class which will be held on Sunday, August 23. I used these papers from the Bo Bunny "Boardwalk" Collection as well as this wonderful Sizzix Embossing Plate which uses all the "beachy" type words. Then I went over the Embossed Cardstock with this new Ombre Ink from Hero Arts. I also used this same ink pad and a Tim Holtz Stencil to add to the layout.

Here is the layout that we will be completing in the class.

Have a great week!

Tulip Bouquet and Happy Birthday

Good Morning Everyone,

What to share with a card that I made using homemade background paper and a couple of dies. My friend Vicki  made this beautiful colour background paper with her Dyan Reavley's  paints, so I wanted to use but wasn't sure for what. Then I saw this card on pinterest and I thought this would be perfect. Only thing I didn't have that die but I thought I can do this, I have lots of dies in my stash. So I picked the tulip bouquet die that I had and never used. Not sure if Sheila still carries this one but you can use any dies that gives you an outline. I cut my colour background to the same size I used to cut out my die and glued them together. I had some of the paper left so I used the die Celebrations from Penny Black to cut out the Happy Birthday. Just added some bling and voila my card. Hope you give this a try.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Pocket Scrapbooking

Hello, everyone. This week, I wanted to share with you one of the things that I found to help me in my scrapbooking....Pocket Scrapbooking! Often, we hear our customers say that they feel overwhelmed by the number of photos that they have and don't know where to start. I always have three or more albums on the go at once. I do one album per year for our family events, one for my genealogy research, one for my life and now one for my grandson. For him, I have been creating a Pocket Scrapbook. My daughter sends me photos and I scrapbook them and then when she has time, she fills in the information. Some of the photos are photos that I have taken and so I write in the information for those.

The first thing that I do is get my photos together, pick out some papers, embellishments, stickers, etc. and then decide on the type of photo sleeves that I need. Here is a photo of how I start. I find that the 6 x 6 paper pads are great and I love these Mini Placemats from Jillibean Soup.

Then since I have everything organized, I find that I can do a double page fairly quickly. Here are the layouts that I completed with this product.

Sheila carries an extensive collection of 6 x 6 paper pads. Check them out on the website and have a great week.

The Sweetest Butterfly

Good Morning Everyone,

Hope you are staying cool this weekend. Want to share with you my up coming Wonderful Wednesday Card. This is a one layer card but I think it gives a good WOW.  I used the butterfly die from Memory Box to cut out the shape. I then  used my Tim Holtz distress inks to make the layers in the background of the butterfly. Then I stamped with black Versa Vine ink over top. The stamped I used is called the Sweetest from Penny Black.  The sentiment is from one of my Just Rite stamp set. Of course I had to had a little bling.

Hope to see you out this Wednesday. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Sprigs and sunny colours

Another Friday rolls around and summer is going fast....hope you are enjoying the nice weather!
I was inspired to use some red, orange and yellow on a flower stamp from  Penny Black.
Stamped on a piece of bristol smooth cardstock , cut with this die from Sue Wilson.
The sentiment also comes with the set. I have used distress markers to ink up the stamp, wild honey, spiced marmelade, barn dore and peeled paint. Some gold Viva pearls in the centers and a little bow, haven't used ribbon in ages. The embossing folder is from Crafts too, no clue what the name is. Some dots are splattered on in peeled paint.
                                                Till next time, Anja

Scribbles and Splat with Bird Crazy

Good Afternoon Everyone,

Sorry for the late post. I did this tag using Tim Holtz's  Scribbles and Splat die and his Bird Crazy stamp set. These birds are so darn cute. I coloured the tag with distress inks, then used the mask, Ornate Elements with embossing paste to give a little dimension  to the tag. I then coloured the bird with my distress inks, love this technique for colouring. I then cut out the heart and circle from the Scribble and Splat die and  used them as stencils and cut outs.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

"Dream in Colour"

Good morning, everyone! This week I wanted to show you a kit that I have designed for SGD. When I saw these papers from Webster's Pages "Dream in Color" Collection, I thought that would be a good title for a layout. Isn't that what we wish for all our loved ones? So I used this stamp from Technique Tuesday called "Take Flight" and the new Ombre Ink from Hero Arts. I love all the colours that we have at the store, especially this one called "Pool to Navy". I like the fact that you can change up the colours of a title or an image with one ink pad.

Here are some of the items that I used. The stencil is from Prima and I also used a colour graded ribbon that we have in the store in both purple and blue shades. The title "Dream" and "in Colour" was cut out using my Silhouette

Here is the layout. Remember that we have both card kits and scrapbook layouts designed by the Divas at SGD.

Have a great week!

Maya Clear Stamp by Impression Obsession

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I want to show you my card that I made using the Maya clear stamp from IO. We will be making this card in a couple of weeks for Wonderful Wednesday. I have been seeing a lot of cards made with vellum. Mainly using vellum instead of card stock for their flowers. I just love the look. But I had to look for a technique to colour the vellum flowers, I watched this video by Larissa Haskett and she shows you how to colour with Gelatos. This was perfect for me because I have lots of Gelatos and if you know me I am not one to colour. Also I have seen people use their Derwent Intense Ink Pencils to colour but I will leave that up to Lori to show you. Anyway here is the video of Larissa showing you her technique.

Here is my card.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.
