Masculine birthday on the lake!

Happy last Friday of the year 2016! Wow, can't believe another year is around the corner.
Originally I had a sympathy card to share but  I changed my mind when I saw this beautiful stamp from Penny Black, on the lake. It seems like I am always in need of masculine cards...
I started out with a piece of white cardstock, 4 x 41/2, and make a background with a variety of distress inks from Tim Holtz: salted ocean, faded jeans, tumbled glass, black soot, rusty hinge, barn door and scattered straw. Don't be afraid if it does not blend perfectly, no sky is perfect or the same every time, stripe away, lol.
Then I put the stamp in my MISTI and stamped it 3 times with Versafine black for a nice, deep black image!! Love the MISTI!!! This whole piece was put on a mat of deep orange, sentiment is from MFT and I added 3 score lines along the bottom with a dot of Nuvo ebony black gloss.
Hope you like it! Wishing you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
                                                                   Till 2017, Anja

Masculine birthday

Happy Friday! This week I had some crafty time since I finished the shopping, wrapping, decorating....it sure is nice to get inky and create! The tree is from Altenew, moments in time, and it is heat embossed in brown on vellum. The designer paper is from Kaiser Kraft, barber collection. comb, the brown strip on the left, and the green piece is Bazzil paper .I have used wedgewood blue Nuvo drops and a tiny, little strip of paper on the sentiment strip, this is the back side of the Kaiser Kraft paper. February Calendar Class

Good morning, everyone! Today, I am sharing with you the kit that I made for the February Calendar Class. I used the KaiserCraft Collection "P.S. I Love You!". It is the most beautiful line with the soft pinks and greys. It is different than the usual red for Valentine's Day but it is a nice change.

I did some fussy cutting from the 3 x 4 Journal Cards and used the Border Strips from two of the papers. I love that KaiserCraft includes the various statements on their Border Strips. I then cut out some hearts and foam for the banner using the Stitched Heart from the Lawn Fawn "Tiny Tags" dies. I added some crystals from Prima and a few chipboard accents from my stash.

I also wanted to with everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I look forward to joining Sheila and the Divas in her new "adventure".

I've been shopping!

I've been shopping! I couldn't resist going into SGD on the last day. I'm so glad I did. Not only did I get hugs from Sheila but I got cake too! Thanks Thursday ladies!

Now on to my shopping.

I go through the large size of foam squares like nobody's business. I was really pleased to find that I can buy a package with 2  full sheets of the large squares. Perfect.

I love the look of woodgrain and snagged this large stamp from MFT Whimsical Woodgrain and already the creative ideas are racing through my brain- stay tuned!

Speaking of woodgrain this 3 pack of stencils from Tim Holtz hits the mark! Swirls, flowers and woodgrain are all included in this package. Oh yeah these stencils were coming home with me!

Sequins- I collect these little sparkles and I'm almost out of clear ones! Thankfully this black, white and clear pack helps me to keep my collection where I need it.

I picked up more Avery Elle storage pockets to help keep my dies organized and together. My January goals are to get my dies sorted by type and all in envelopes. Right now they are just thrown into a container. It's embarrassing really hee hee.

As a copic colourer I am always looking to replenish my stock of xpress-it. Grabbed 14 sheets so this should keep my going for awhile.

Lastly I snagged these mini snips from Tim Holtz. They have cushioned grip and are non stick. I like trying new things so I had to have these.

Well this was my shopping trip! I hope you enjoyed this peek into my crafty stash!
Cheers, Andrea

Our New Adventure!!!

In case you have not heard the exciting news... We have a new ADVENTURE starting in just THREE MORE DAYS!! Please grab a coffee and read on....

Before I begin …. We are not closing ... as you read on, please keep this in mind. We are not closing!!

First of all, I want to thank each and every one of you.  This venture of mine started almost 15 years ago and at that time I never dreamed I would be in a store-front meeting and coming to know so many incredible people – from coast to coast!!  As you know, over the past years we have seen some very tough times … especially with the Canadian dollar suffering as it has.   A question/comment we quite often here is, “Are you closing … please don’t close!!”   Well, I am here to tell you that we are not closing!!   I love this hobby soooo much and I believe in it even more.  Crafting is like therapy for so many of us.  We can release ourselves and be free of everyday “life”.   It is a way to be expressive while cherishing and preserving what is most precious to us, our memories.

Although, we would like nothing more than to stay put here at our current retail location, and not go to all of the work and effort of a new adventure, staying here is no longer feasible.  With that being said, we have a new adventure planned and are excited and hopeful that you will all come along for the ride!!  Effective December 15th, 2016, we will be moving our business back into our basement and continuing as an "on-line business" with the perks of being a "Pop-Up-Shop" throughout London and our surrounding area.

Biggest Fear:  My biggest fear is that I am letting people down. This has been the most emotional part to come to terms with. This has been such a difficult decision to make and I respect and understand that this new forum will not be the best for all of my customers.  My beautiful Thursday Ladies have been coming to my store since day one, and so many of you join us almost every Tuesday & Wednesday ...  I am asking that you give this a chance and join us for this new and exciting ride.  I promise to be close by and keep you crafting!!  My goal is to be here for decades to come.

Our goal remains as always:   To bring our customers the very best of the best and the newest of the new!

Moving back to our basement - What does this mean for you  …. Read on …..

Classes/Workshops/Crops:   We will still be offering fabulous classes and informative workshops to our customers.  You can say that we are, in a way, taking SGD on the road!!  We are looking to book meeting rooms, halls, churches, etc. throughout London and surrounding areas, to host crafting events.   At our events we will be offering all-day crops, classes, make & takes and, of course, our amazing store will be on-site for you to get the newest of the new and pick-up orders.  In short, at all of our events you will be able to do one and/or ALL of the following:
Crop the day away on your own projects
               Take a class (or 2 or 3!!)
               Break for a fun M&T (or 2 or 3!!)
See demos ... learn about new products
               Shop our amazing on-site store
Pick up orders …. And MORE!!

Save the dates!!   We have already booked the meeting room at the Community Centre in Komoka (3 min drive from our current location) in January!!  On all three of these dates we will be offering cropping, classes, make n takes, demos, shopping and LOADS of FUN!  Please stop by and join the fun!  The dates are:  Thursday, January 12:  10am – 9pm.   Friday, January 27: 10am – 10pm.    Tuesday, January 31:  10am – 9pm.  Details for these events will be available within the next 4-6 weeks!!   Please schedule us in your calendars and get ready to CRAFT, CRAFT, CRAFT!!

Social Media:  This element of our new adventure will be a very big part.  Through social media and our website, you will be able to stay informed of all of our upcoming events!!  Who knows, we may be in Stratford one week and Chatham the next!!   Now is the time to get your groups of crafty ladies together … book us for a day of crafting fun.  We will bring the Craft to You!!  We will come and teach classes, offer our on-site store, be a Vendor at your fund-raising crops!!  So please, if you are not already receiving our informative newsletter, sign up today, and/or like us on Facebook!  And of course, you can always still email and/or call us.

On-Line Shopping:   This remains and will be even better! We will continue to offer on-line shopping 24/7!!!   Many of our online customers, we have had from day one - almost 15 years now!!   You can count on us to still keep you in all of your crafting needs/wants!!  And if we don’t have it, we will do our utmost to get it!!   Just ask!!  Our inventory counts will be maintained on a very frequent basis, to help avoid backorders.

Inspiration/Samples:   We pride ourselves in offering our customers beautiful samples to draw upon for inspiration.  We are happy to report that our current Design Team remains!! At every event and through social media, you will continue to find stunning samples from all of our incredible designers, including:  Judy, Karen, Lori, Trish, Kim, Andrea, Matilda, Michelle, Anja & soon coming, Connie & Shonda!  And who knows, we may just be reaching out to YOU to be a guest designer!

Pick up Orders:  A part of our current business is that we allow customers to order online and pick up their order within 2 weeks, without paying in advance.  We know that customers really enjoy this feature and it is something that I do not believe any other store offers. Due to strict municipal laws regarding retail being in a home, customers will not be able to come to our home for shopping or pick up orders.  However, we will still offer pick-up orders at all of our events.  We will let you know in advance where we will be hosting events, so that you can pop by (in Komoka on January 12, 27 & 31).  Or, we would be happy to ship your orders to you.  If items are flat (such as a die or a stamp), we can ship to you for only $3!  Payment for pick-up orders, will be required at the time the order is placed (unless otherwise indicated).  This will help us maintain inventory counts so that all of our shoppers can enjoy an up-to-date shopping experience. If you are uncomfortable with ordering online, please call us and we will be happy to walk you through it, and/or take your order and payment information over the phone. It is always our pleasure to assist you in any way we can :)

Garage Sale:  Yes, we will still host two garage sales/year … they will just be in a different location.

Anniversary Event:   Yes, we are still planning to host an Anniversary Event on Saturday, December 3rd, here at our store!!   Please say you’ll join us!!!  We will have even more details about the new year and where we will be hosting our fun and exciting crafting events!!  We promise to make this event one of our best ever!!

Gift Cards:   Yes, you can still use your gift cards (from garage sales or gift card) online, or stop by at any of our events and shop with your gift card there.  There are no expiry dates on any of our gift cards and WE ARE NOT CLOSING … so please be assured that you do not have anything to worry about. Unsure how to use your gift card online, send us an email or call us, and we will happily walk you through the process.

Art Journal & Monthly Calendar Classes:   These are very popular with our customers …. We’ve got you covered … All classes (and MORE) will still be offered each & every month!

Retreats: Yes, we will still offer 2 fabulous retreats/year!! If you've never been, "Girlfriends, you do not know what you are missing!!"

Pre-orders & Special orders:   You will start to notice more pre-orders and special orders on our site.  We encourage you to continue to take advantage of these. It is the best way to get the newest items before they are discontinued.

Shelving Units:
Although we will be keeping some for our events, we will be selling several of our shelving units as they will not be needed in our basement.   Details will follow as we figure out what we will be taking with us and what we will be selling.

Lastly:
If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.  We are not closing, we are just changing things up and we look forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!!

Sincerely, Super Big Hugs, Sheila  xoxo

"January" Calendar Kit for 2017

Good morning! It seems strange to be writing the year 2017 already but that is what I have been working on. I wanted to take a moment to thank the ladies from my Calendar Class. Unfortunately, due to the weather this weekend, we were not able to meet. These ladies now have an album completed with 12 monthly layouts. So to start the next year, this is the first layout for January 2017.

I used the Carta Bella line "Snow Fun" and chose the papers which concentrate on different shades of blue. I also used a Memory Box die called "Scribble Snowflake Circle", a Snowman Postage Die from Cottage Cutz and a Deep Red stamp for the skates. To add some interest to the Snowman Die and the Skates Stamp, I used a Clear Wink of Stella Pen.

If you are interested in joining the Calendar Class for next year, just call SGD to sign up. The number will be the same for the online business. The first two classes will be in kit form and in March, I will hold a class at one of the venues for the Pop-up Store.

Enjoy the snow, everyone. I guess Winter is finally here!

Double Dutch Card

 Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my card for this up coming Tuesday. We will be doing a Double Dutch Card. This was a very interesting card to make. There are lots of templates out there but I enjoyed this one because it fits a standard size envelope. I got my instructions from Lynn at Beyond Beaches & Blessings. Her instructions are very clear. The designer paper is from Simple Stories called Classic Christmas. For the star I used Tim Holtz Festive Scribbles, the circle is cut from MFT stitch circle die and the sentiments from Penny Black's Heart Felt stamp set.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Christmas card fun!

Happy almost Christmas!

I've been hanging out with Hero Arts lately playing with the Coffee cup stamps and dies and the Christmas tree layering stamp (currently out of stock). Here are two cards I made at the last all day Saturday crop and boy was I proud! I have to say using the MISTI helped out immensely!
How have your holiday cards been coming along? These need to get in the mail asap!

Hope you are enjoying this special time of  year!

Moments in time!

Happy Friday! Have you seen this new set from Altenew, moments in time? It's beautiful!! Just saying, lol!
Sometimes we need to remind ourselves to enjoy the moment you are in...and this set has some beautiful sentiments about that.
I started with a piece of watercolour paper, bigger than I needed, and carefully put some color burst on it and sprayed it with a mini mister with water, I always have a paper towel handy to dab up some of the liquid. The colours are olive green and cerulean blue. After I heat embossed the swing with tree in black I found that my blue was a bit too much....so I sprayed more water on it and dabbed it up with a paper towel, if you use watercolour paper it's no big deal, the paper can handle quite a bit of water. The sentiment is also heat embossed. The watercolour panel is cut down to 31/2 x 5, I matted it on black 4 x 51/4 and on the right side I added 3 score lines, hard to see in the picture.
As a final touch I added some Ranger caribbean coast enamel dots, and I mounted the panel on a cream card base. With a damp brush, I added some forest green and pumice stone to the tree and swing. If your brush is too wet, the colour burst will re activate and make a mess of things, ask me how I know, lol!
Hope you like it! Till next time, Anja

"Forever" Kit

Good morning, everyone! Today, I wanted to show you a new kit that I created using the Fab Scraps Collection "Floral Dreams". I loved the vintage look of this paper and wanted to create a kit that could be used to honour your loved ones. I love the look of pale pink and dark grey together so I coloured the chipboard pieces with my Tim Holtz Distress Marker "Hickory Smoke". I included some flowers from our embellishment bar and some Crystals from Prima's "Rossi Belle" Collection.
I used a Bo Bunny Stamp to add some interest to the background.

We still have lots of kits on our kit wall so don't forget to stock up so that you will be already to get some scrapbooking done over the Christmas holidays.

Cup of Cheer

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my card for this up coming Wonderful Wednesday. I am using designer paper from Echo Park called "I Love Winter".  I used the die from My Favourite Things called Striped Sentiment Strip. I love the look of this die and there are so many possibilities. I cut the sentiment with the celebrate die from Penny Black's Celebration collection. I used silver paper from Bazzill for the celebrate and snowflake. Then I added some blng.

How does some new colorbursts colors and Ranger enamel dots sound together? I think they make your cardmaking very easy and fun!! Sometimes you just need a card ASAP.....I took a piece of watercolor paper and sprinkled some of those new powders on, cerulean blue, olive green, gamboge and cadminium scarlet.....Hope I spelled that all okay, I have linked them all up so they are easy for you to find!
I added the congratulations die from Avery Elle in black and then added some Ranger enamel dots, they are so easy to work with and dry like really shiny! Black classic cherry, electric  lime, lemonburstand caribean coast....a mouthful!
Hope you like this card and will get some crafty time!!

Working with Plaid

Good morning, everyone. Today, I wanted to show you a layout that I did for the store using four different Plaids. Photo Play has a collection called "Mad for Plaid" and I had two of these papers with different plaids on the back of each paper. So, I first created a "frame" on the layout by using Plaid 1 and 2 on the far left side of page 1 and Plaid 3 and 4 on the far right side of Page 2.

Next, I cut the remaining papers in to 3 inch squares and included two different coloured Cardstocks which were the predominant colours in three of the plaids. I used the MFT die for Tags and Banners to add some interest and also some of the Carpe Diem "Posh" Bits and Pieces and Stickers. To finish it off, I used the Ranger Enamel Accents called: Electric Lime, Cheese Puff, and Lemon Puff.

Here are the materials that I used:

And here is the layout:

So remember not to be afraid of using different plaids on a layout. Just select a predominant and secondary colour to focus on and your layout will look great.

Snowman Postage

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my card for this coming Wonderful Wednesday. I have had this die for sometime and I thought  I need to get it out and make something with it. I am using the die from Cottage Cutz called Snowman Postage. The pink card stock is embossed with a embossing folder called Snowfall.  I cut the snowman from craft foam and Bazzill Pearl Foil (just new in store).  Behind the Snowman I used a vellum I got from Crate Paper's Cute Girl line. It gives the look of confetti behind the snowman with out doing a shaker card.

Hope to see you this Wednesday.
Thanks for looking and have a great day.
