Watercoloured Altenew sympathy card

Happy Friday! Not the happiest card to share with you today, but it's part of life, a sympathy card.
I am pretty lucky to already have this Freesia set from Altenew (it was on pre order, hope you got yours ordered). Last Saturday we had an All day crop and that's when I made this card. The flower is heat embossed in white on watercolour paper. Distress inks were used, pumice stone, shabby shutters and antique linen. I used a different technique, I swiped the ink pads on an acrylic block, with a clean brush, I filled one petal at a time with lots of water and I just dropped the ink in, first the antique linen and then some pumice stone. Then you have to let it dry!!!  The best way to do is, is to do one petal at a time, the water will stay within the lines because of the heat embossing. The sentiment is stamped in a dark chocolate ink, some sponging around and the whole panel is put on a brown metallic base, some liquid pearls to finish it off.
Hope you like it, till next time, Anja

Happy Birthday Floral Frame

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my next card for Wonderful Wednesday. I thought I would do an old technique for the background. I covered the front piece of my card with Picked Raspberry distress ink. Then I placed one of my stencils over top. This stencil is from Memory Box but any stencil will do. Once you have your stencil taped down over your front piece, you take water and mist it over the whole piece. Don't over wet you card. Then you take a piece of paper towel and pat the stencil and card front dry. Lift stencil up and see the magic. You can heat dry your card front to speed up the process. Glue the card front to the black card stock.
Then next thing I did was to cut out the foam and the happy birthday out. Glue the two layers on top of each other. I think for the next time I would use the Stickit to adhere my foam and card stock together and then cut both out the same time. Lot easier.  Glue the  Happy Birthday to front of card. Add some bling and your done. You could do this with any colour of your distress inks.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Crafting with Prima's Layering Stamps

Today I had fun playing with my new stamps from Prima

I had fun picking colours to layer the images with
A tip would be to use your lightest colour with your solid flower image

Memory Box birds

Happy Friday! Today I am sharing this bird card with you, using some different colours than my usual.
When I saw the bird stamp from Memory Box, I knew what I wanted to do with it. I started with stamping the leaves from Penny  Black on the cardstock with Versafine black. The birds are heat embossed in black on watercolour paper, and I used some distress inks to colour them (peacock feather, fossilized amber). I then cut them out and popped them up. Sentiment is from Altenew. In the corners and around I sponged on some Tumbled glass distress ink and I had to add some dots. Tomorrow we have an all day crop happening at the store, I am looking forward to have some time to create and catch up with friends. Hope you get some crafting time too!
                                                   Hope you like it, Anja

No time to colour? Emboss instead!!!

Happy Monday!!! I thought I would share today a couple of cards that I made with a super cute Whipper Snapper stamp that ordinarily I would colour.  But what if you don't have time to colour, or (gasp!) you don't like to colour?? Emboss the stamped image for a super simple card!!  Even different colour of powder will change the feel of the image.  For my two Valentine cards the red is cute, the gold a bit more elegant; one for a child, another for your partner! So don't walk past those stamps that you love, but know you won't colour...there are lots of ways to use them!!  Enjoy your day!!

Ink N' Layer

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my next card for this up coming Wonderful Wednesday. I am using one of Prima's new stamp sets called Glorious Flora and it is a Ink N' Layer stamp. Or some of you may know them as two step stamps. You stamp the base in one colour and then take a contrasting colour to stamp the more detail stamp on top. I have always loved this technique, glad it is back.
This is called a tri fold peek a boo card, got  the idea from pinterest. There are a lot of versions for this card but this one I liked the best. The background paper is from BoBunny. This line is called genevieve. Love it.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Easy and quick masculine card

Happy Friday! Sharing a quick and easy card with you today for the men in your life. I used a Penny Black set , it!s called winter scenes, but in this card winter is gone, lol. It's always a good idea to look at your stamp sets and think of different ways to use them. This set also has some dots stamps in it, and I love the effect that those dots give you, I used it in the grass too with the same green ink, peeled paint.
I sponged on some Tim Holtz tumbled glass ink on the top and some peeled paint on the bottom. Trees are stamped with forest moss and the deer with Versafine black. The sentiment is carefully heat embossed on black vellum, wrapped around the panel so that the tape won't show through.
Two scored lines on the right and some Viva dots, and voila, done!
Hope you like it! Till next time, Anja

Here & Now

Hello!
Today I am sharing a quick tutorial on how I created my Here & Now layout using papers from the BoBunny - Sleigh Ride collection.

My amazing photographer Barb Weir Photography captured this really cute picture of my son. This picture captures his personality.

He was doing his "cool kid model pose" as he calls it.

I cut one 6x12 pieces from the BoBunny - Sleigh Ride - Tradition 12x12 Paper

and a 6x12 inch piece from the BoBunny - Sleigh Ride - Logs 12x12 Paper

One 1x12 inch piece of white card stock along with a 4x6 piece of white card stock for my photo mat. I adhered these two a 12x12 piece of pattern paper.
My goal was to have a little light color peeking around the edges as I distressed all three pieces.

I then cut some stickers in half from the fabulous BoBunny - Sleigh Ride - Combo 12x12 Sticker Sheet  and adhered it behind my picture.

I wanted a "wood" feel layout and cut out some of my branches and adhered them to the bottom left corner of my layout.

I then layered my snowflake die cuts with stickers again taken from the combo sheet. A few close up shots.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all of  you!!!
Starting of the year with a flower card, using Lacy Scrolls from Altenew! And yes, you can pre order this set HERE.
On a piece of watercolour paper I stamped the flower in Memento tangelo ( a ligth orange waterbased dye ink), on an acrylic block I scribbled some barn door and aged mahagony distress marker on an acrylic block  and with a damp, small brush I put on some more shading. You have to be careful to keep the lines between the petals white, or it will become one muddy mess. After the colouring, I fussy cut the flower and put glossy accents on and let it dry. For the rest of the card, I took a piece of bristol smooth cardstock and stamped some of the scrolls and leaves of the set in a dark brown ink, added a few dots and the sentiment, which is from another Altenew set Persian Motifs. I then blended on some gathered twigs ink and popped up the flower and added some bling. The whole panel is matted on a piece of gold and then on dark brown on a white card base.

About the dots...I think the dots add something nice (just my opinion) and I actually have a stamp from an old set that has some dots on it to make it easy, look into some of your stamp sets...you might have some too. For example, if you have this Hero Arts set, there is a little one in there.
If  you don't have one, you can add the dots by scribbling some marker on an acrylic block and spritz it with water, then pick the ink  up with a brush and tap off or even by putting them on with the fine tip of your marker but that will take a while.

Hope you will get lots of crafty time in this New Year!!! Till next time, Anja
