"September" Calendar Class

Happy Monday, everyone! Today, I wanted to show you the layout that we will be doing for the "September" Calendar Class on Sunday, Sept. 11. I used some of the papers from the American Crafts Shimelle "Go Now Go" Collection. For some reason, I always go to Navy as one of the colours that I want to use in a school-related theme and this layout is no different.

I cut some of the words which apply to going back to school from the paper entitled "Arrival" and used a Tim Holtz mini-stencil to add in the numbers. I added a few wooden stars which I coloured with some TH. Distress Markers and then added some red ribbon.

Remember to check our Paper Gallery as Sheila adds in many new paper lines. I love the new one mentioned above as well as Kaisercraft's "Barber Shoppe" line. I can see some new Vintage type layouts in my future!!

Have a great week!

Technique Tuesday and Wonderful Wednesday

Good Morning Everyone,

Today I am sharing with you two cards. I will be doing both Technique Tuesday and Wonderful Wednesday. For Technique Tuesday we will be making a drapery card or some people call a curtain card. It is how you fold your designer paper that makes it look like a curtain. To get the best effect you must use two sided designer paper. I used the new designer paper from Crate Paper called Elsie. I then heat embossed my sentiment with white embossing powder.

The next card is for Wonderful Wednesday. I used the Memory Box die called Bellina Butterfly Stem. I added copper embossing powder to the die cut. This gives a faux metal look. The designer paper is from Carta Bella called The Old World Traveller.

I hope you can join me this Tuesday or Wednesday or both. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Penny Black Sympathy card

Happy Friday! This week SGD posted a video from the Penny Black blog, and today I tried the technique shown in the video. You can watch it HERE.
I used a different Penny Black stamp, terraced lace, the birds are from Hero Arts, and the die is from Dee's Distinctively.
I used distress markers to colour on the stamp and later on, after the heat embossing, I used some distress inks with a blending tool, same as in the video.
It is a fun technique, hope you will give it a try! Till next time, Anja

"LOVE" Kit

Hello, everyone! I hope you are enjoying the last few days of August. Where has the summer gone?

Today, I wanted to show you a new kit that I created using a Photo Play Collection called "like a GIRL". I love the coral and turquoise colours of the papers and thought that this kit would be nice for photos of a tween/teenage girl(s). I especially like the reference to Dr. Seuss seen in the kit.

I fussy-cut the letters for the title "LOVE" and used pop dots to give them a 3-D effect and then used Crystal Lacquer to highlight each letter. I used some Turquoise flowers from Prima and a crochet flower from our excellent Embellishment Bar at the store. Check this out as we add new items to the "Bar" often. I also added a couple of Wooden Hearts from Kaisercraft and coloured them with a Tim Holtz Distress Marker called "Abandoned Coral". I tucked a Journal Card in behind one of the photo mats and finished the kit by adding a few Enamel Dots.

Have a great week!

Quilt Square Die

Good Morning Everyone,

Here is my card for this up coming Wonderful Wednesday. I made this card using the new Quilt Square Die from DP. This is just a fun die to play way. You can make so many quilt patterns with this die just by using different colour card stock and designer paper. You can't really tell by the picture but it has faux sticking around each piece that is cut out. It cut outs all the pieces and you just add them where you would like.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Distress markers on glossy cardstock!

Happy Friday! Summer is still going strong.....so many hot days and nights! Sometimes I dare to think....there is something nice about winter, lol. But don't worry, I won't see it out loud!
My card for today is with a stamps from Penny Black, Flowercasade, stamped with Stazon on glossy cardstock.
I always forget about this technique, if you use your distress markers (or any other waterbased marker) on  glossy cardstock , it will leave you with a nice shiny result. The markers dry pretty quick, and then they are on to stay! Not much blending going on, but that makes for easy colouring.
Here are the Tim Holtz distress markers I have used ( I followed the colours on the package:
                      salty ocean
                      evergreen bough
                      wild honey
                      tumbled glass
                      squeezed lemonade
                      spiced marmelade
The sentiment is heat embossed with black, and it is from Altenew.
Some wedgewood Nuvo drops and voila, all done!
Stay tuned , as I wanna do this card with you for an upcoming Wonderful Wednesday!
                                    Till next time, Anja

Today, I wanted to show you a Kit that I made using these papers, ephemera, crystals, etc. I created the title "hush little baby" on my Silhouette and used a soft pink ink from Versa Magic called "Pixie Dust" to colour around the papers.

Autumn Birdie

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my card this morning. I used the Memory Box Autumn Birdie stamp  and die set. It is a really cute set. I used my distress inks to make my own background for stamping and cutting. The embossing folder is from Darcie. I inked the inside of my folder to get this look, it just makes the embossed areas pop. Then for the final touch I added some ribbon.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Cool colours!

Happy Friday! Are you enjoying the HOT HOT weather? I decided to use some cool colours on a card today....it is for sure nice and cool in my basement although I did not get a lot of crafty time this week. The colouring on this card is pretty simple, I stamped and heat embossed the image on a heavy weight white cardstock and then used a Nestabilitie to cut it out. It is hard to see in the picture but the flower on the top left is sticking out. I picked 2 derwent inktense colours, 1100 deep indigo and 2110 payne's grey. On a scrap piece of bristol smooth I scribbled both of those pencils and sprayed it with water, this way it is like watercolouring. I quickly coloured the flowers blue and the leaves grey, not too much difference in colour. When it was dry, I put some wink of Stella on the image.
I cut another panel of white cardstock, 4 x 41/4, and splattered some black dots on with a small paint brush, just scribble some black soot marker on a block and spray with water. When that was dry, I scored a frame around it and added the Nuvo drops, wedgewood blue, and the sentiment.
The flower and sentiment are popped up. All the stamps are from PENNY BLACK, the flower is called playful and the sentiment is from the set snippets.
Happy crafting, till next time, Anja

"Love You to the Moon & Back" Baby Girl Kit

Good morning, all. I have been working on a few kits for the store which I hope to finish in the next few days so watch for them. I did complete the following kit which is a female version of one that has sold out already. Hopefully, I can make up a few more of those soon. I made a pocket for the Journal Tag and used a die from MFT for the frame around the pocket. The title was created on my Silhouette. Then I added some ribbon, a lace doily that I cut out a doily using a Prima Doily Die, and added some wooden embellishments from my own stash.

The picture doesn't show the colours very well. They are a very pretty soft pink.

Have a good week.

Beautiful Blends

Good Morning Everyone,

This week I will be Technique Tuesday. I will be showing you how to make beautiful backgrounds with your Tim Holtz distress inks. There are a lot of colour combos you can use. I used spiced marmalade, mustard steed, fired brick and seedless preserves. The key is the paper you use. I used the Bristol Smooth mix media paper, I tried to use ordinary card stock like Neenah but you do not get the same blending. We will be also going over heating embossing.

Please join me this up coming Tuesday afternoon. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Sending hugs and happy thoughts!

Happy Friday! Sending hugs and happy thoughts to you all today!
Hope you are enjoying your summer, I am almost getting used to this heat, lol,
My card for today started with a piece of  bristol smooth cardstock, I carefully sprinkled a few dots of Pthalo green colorburst on the left side and along the bottom, then misted it with not too much water and with paper towel tried to control the colour a bit....till I was happy with the result.
After the piece dried, I stamped the flowers and butterfly from Altenew, botanical garden set.
I coloured the flowers with seedless preserves distress ink and the leaves with moved lawn, simply put the inkpad upside down on your craft mat, and with a small paint brush and some water paint the flowers, leaves and butterfly. When that was dry, I splettered (is that even a word?)some dots on with my paint brush on the right side with moved lawn ink. Sentiment is also from Altenew, beautiful day.
Some glossy accents in the middle of the flowers and I also used my wink of Stella pen on the flowers, leaves and butterfly, but that is hard to see in the picture. The whole piece is matted on a piece of purple and some sequins to finish this card of.
                                        Hope you like it, Anja

So I love the kits that the SGD put together to help me stay on top of things! Take a look at these amazing kits! Get them before they are gone!
