New Kits

Good morning, everyone. I have been very busy over the last few days making up some new kits and wanted to share them with you today. The first one I called "Hugs" and it comes with either pink or teal mats for either a feminine or masculine birthday layout. I used the Lawn Fawn Cross Stitch Rectangles to create the mats.

The next two kits are more masculine and are created using the Kaiser Craft Barber Shoppe Collection. I love the soft blues and greens in these papers. I added some chipboard elements and some twine to both kits and did a lot of fussy cutting.

Remember that the Retreat at Oakwood is this coming weekend. We have tons of Kits in stock so what better way to get a lot of scrapbooking done that by purchasing some of our kits?

Jolly Santa

Good Morning Everyone,

Want to share with you my card I made with a die from Dee's Distinctively. This Santa face die is so cute.  I cut white foam and white card stock for his face. I used the Jolly die from Tim Holtz Christmas thinlets. For the word I just cut it out with the foam. Using the foam to help pop up the image is a lot easier than trying to use tiny pieces of pop ups. Then of course I had to had some bling in there. Oh, for the background I used an embossing from Darice called Snowflake Swirl, this makes a lovely background for your cards.

Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Quick masculine card!

Happy Friday! A quick masculine card today....most of us struggle with masculine cards....this one is really quick, perfect for when you need one right away. The base of the card is kraft, I used the plaid Embossing folder from Taylored Expressions on the dark brown bazzil paper. The circles are cut with Nestabilities and the brown one is poppep up. The light blue one with the airplanes is Designer Paper from Kaiser Kraft, how easy is that! The MFT sentiment is an acrylic stamp and I just curved it on my block to stamp around the circle. Black dots from NUVO, so easy to use and some twine from doodlebug designs.
Hope you like it! Till next time, Anja

“I read about your changes last night and you have not let any of us down! I'm just so happy that you are staying in business and understand that you have to do what works to do that. Your store was very large so therefore very expensive, I'm sure. Not just rent but utilities and stock for such a large area. You sound like you have made plans to continue to see your customers, and that is awesome.  I'm sure all of these changes were difficult for you to make but you have to do what's right for you. We will all adjust! Don't worry about that! Xoxo”

Lots of support on Facebook as well:
ArdythWow, that is BIG news! I remember meeting your in your basement way, way back! I'm glad you'll be continuing your online shop (and based on the information, a lot of everything else!) Looking forward to being a customer as long as you are in business!

SandySeems like I just found you so you can't shake me now. Change is hard, but sounds like everything we love will still be there. Remember folks, it's up to us to support independent businesses if we want them to succeed. Hugs.

PamI totally understand why you are closing your bricks and mortar location, as have many crafting stores across the country. I am so pleased you will be maintaining your online presence and hosting of events. Would you ever consider taking your show on the road and visiting Peterborough????

GennaI'm so sad to hear the shop is closing but I'm also sooooo grateful that you will still be around! I'm really looking forward to your new adventure and all the fun events you will be offering!
Thank you so very much!!!

"November" Calendar Class

Good morning, everyone. I always have some difficulty picking papers for the November Calendar Class. You can never be sure whether there will be snow by the time that the class rolls around but one thing is for sure: there will be cold weather during this month. So, for this month's layout, I chose the collection "I Love Winter" by Echo Park. I thought this die from Memory Box was so cute and fit the theme and then I cut out the mittens and the title using my Silhouette. In the class, we will be using the Ranger White Enamel ink as well as the Wink of Stella Clear Pen. Here is a photo of the materials used in the class:

 And here is the layout:

Hope you can come on Sunday, Nov. 20 at 1:30 for the class.

Feel better soon!

Happy Friday! My card today is stamped with the beautiful set Bamboo Roses from Altenew.
I heat embossed some of the roses, the sentiment and the butterfly from this set with gold embossing powder on watercolour paper. Even after running your embossing buddy over the paper first, on watercolour paper you will get some stray dots of embossing powder which I actually don't mind on a card like this. In the end, I added some splatters anyway, lol!
The roses are watercoloured with lots of water and distress inks, shabby shutter, peeled paint, barn door, seedless preserves and picked raspberry (I put some ink on an acrylic block). I started by wetting the area with lots of water and then dropped some colour in it, letting the water do the job,
After it was dry, I went around with a wet brush and some diluted seedless preserves.
The panel is matted on a piece of gold mirri board and then mounted on a pearl card base.
Oh, and of course I had to add some gold Viva drops!
Hope you like it! Till next time, Anja

Karen Ellis was "in the house"!!

We were so fortunate to have the one and only Karen Ellis from The Art House Studio in Cambridge teaching at Scrappin' Great Deals last Saturday!!  Her enthusiasm was infectious!! We had a lovely time and can't wait for her to come back!

We spent the entire day playing with paint and gel plates, creating our own papers;

We then took our papers and began creating flowers and making a collage on a canvas;  the day flew by!!

Here is my masterpiece!  I used my Dylusion paints for the gel plate papers, and to create the background on the canvas.  I love the bright colours but I also used some white to tone down the background.

Thanks again Karen, we had an amazing day!!

Christmas Tags

Happy Monday! Today, I am sharing with you a class that I have coming up ...Tuesday, November 15 from 10 a.m. until noon. I used the papers from the Authentique "Classic Christmas" Collection.
Please join me to put together 10 Tags that you can use on those special presents.

I used a Scallop Punch and a Circle Punch on most of the tags and then decorated each one with embellishments, Crystal Lacquer, or Die Cuts from Memory Box and Impression Obsession.

Hope to see you at the class. There will be no kits for this class.

Technique Tuesday/Wonderful Wednesday

Good Morning Everyone.

This week I will be doing Technique Tuesday and Wonderful Wednesday. The first card is for Tuesday. I will be teaching you how to use your sentiments as a background on your cards. Using the Misti helps a lot with this technique. I got my inspiration from Jennifer McGuire, she makes it looks so easy. Check out her video here. I am using the new stamp from Altnew called Bamboo Rose.

The second card is for Wednesday. I thought I should do a Halloween card since Halloween is just around the corner. I thought using Tim Holtz crazy cats was fitting for this card. I heat embossed the cat with black embossing powder. The back ground paper is from Carta Bella called Haunted. I used 3D Crystal Lacquer for the eyes. This makes them pop. But I think using googly eyes would be better. Less mess.

Hope to see you this week. Thanks for looking and have a great day.

Another Christmas card...

Happy Friday! I am slowly working on some Christmas cards...and today I am sharing another one with you. Somewhere I saw where someone used paste through a stencil, for this card I used a Tim Holtz stencil, and while the paste was still wet, you sprinkle glitter on top. Then you have to let it dry...not with your heat gun as you might get bubbels. The sentiment is from Memory Box, Christmas Botanicals, and I stamped it on a label that I cut with my Cameo, a bow and mounted on silver mirri board, and voila another card done.
                                        Till next time, Anja
