Happy Friday! I am happy this week is over, the boys had exams, I had some lovely visits to the dentist, I even had to miss my favourite Thursday Product talk, all done and over, now I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend, I can wish, right?

I wanted to make a Valentine's card in different colours......I really like how this one turned out, what do you think?

Let It Snow Embossed Card

Here's a fun Wintery embossed card.

I embosses the blue cardstock panel with a Darice embossing folder and then swiped my ink pad across the raised lines. The tag was made with the JustRite Charming Christmas stamp set. I finished my card with a border of pearls made with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen Ice White.

Tea Set Card Class - Feb. 4

Hello Stampers!

Here are a few of my favourite things:

This is a class I'm teaching at Scrappin' Great Deals on Feb. 4 using the My Favorite Things Always Time for Tea stamp & die set. I love stamps with matching dies and this set has a fabulously versatile array!

I've also used one of my favourite 6x6 paper pads, Little Black Dress, by Basic Grey. This is one of those sets that I hoard preciously in preparation for when I can no longer buy it! It has the most beautiful leopard print paper in it. Too delicious for words!

Those of you in the know can probably tell that I took the "Clean & Simple Card Making" online class. What a fanastic class! I so enjoyed it.

Springtime Background & Boarders Set

Good morning everyone.

Can you believe it, it is almost the end of January. Thought I would do a Tag for valentines and use some of the technique's that we used to do the 12 days of Christmas with Tim. I have 5 of the tags done. My goal is to finish them before the next set.

Here are the list of products I used for this tag:

Tim Holtz Springtime Background and Boarder Set

Mini Sewing Room Set Movers & Shapers

Picket Fence & Spun Sugar distress Stain.

Spun sugar, Victorian Rose and Vintage Photo distress Inks.

Tim Holtz Stamp Set called Love Struck.

Glass Effect Gel Pen from Viva Decor.

I first coloured my tag with picket fence stain and then the spun sugar. Wait for this to dry.
Emboss the tag with the Springtime Embossing Folder. Stamp the tag with the Victorian Rose, I then inked the edges and the raised areas with the vintage photo.
I cut out the dress form with the Sewing room die set but I used some canvas material I had.
I used the glass effect on the Love & 14 that is on the smaller tag.

Welcome our new little stamp friends from Inky Impressions! This little guy is Mischievous Christopher.

I thought he seemed just right for a Valentine's Day card to a Daddy (bless!). I used my new favorite 6x6 paper pad from My Mind's Eye called "Love Me".

I love that it has cute banners in it - and isn't all pink & white. PERFECT for a child's card too! Little Christopher is stamped on XPress It with Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured with Copics (see colours below).

In fact, my 7 year old, Samuel, loved it so much that he sat down beside me to create one too! Here is the card that he created, with a little cutting help from Mummy of course.

Playing with Perfect Pearls

Andrea here to share 2 examples of the cards we made on a previous Product Talk session (aka Therapy Thursdays) where we played with Perfect Pearls.

To make this card we first stamped our image using Kaiser Crafts cute butterfly stamp in Versamark ink. We then took our perfect pearls and gently brushed a SMALL amount of the pigment onto the image. We found it best to work with one colour at a time and put it where we wanted it before moving onto the next colour. Once done you then take the larger brush that is included in the kit and brush to remove the excess pigment around the image.

An important tip is that you should just use a light hand when applying the pigment as you don't want to grind it into the fibers of the paper and therefore leave a colour 'cast' around the image. As well I like to seal my images. In this case we used Goosebumps spray to seal and add texture to our cards yet you can also just use a mini mister and water to set your design. Love that!

One of the fun things about perfect pearls is how versatile the colours are. I used the exact same colours on each card yet based on what colour of card stock I used they looked completely different. I did also have an example on white paper but I gave that one to my partner in the A-Team the fantastic Anja.

So here is another 'what's old is new again' tool that many of us have in our craft supply. Dig it out and see what fun it us to play with pigments!

Happy Friday and welcome! I could say this is my second post today.....I was so smart to hit the wrong button just before I was ready to post the first time, not so smart, I got to do it all over again.

And the title isn't right either...the bird is out of the cage, LOL!
Anyhow, I love the colour white and kraft together, then I saw what other people had done with this embossing folder and my idea came together.

Winter Cupcake

Marianne Designables Swirls Embossing/Cutting Folder

Heart Canvas

We have some fabulous blank canvas' in at the store right now, from Canvas Corp. They come in multiple sizes that you can alter to your heart's content!! Here is what I did with a 6" x 6" canvas:

Mother's Day Cameo

Hello stampers!

Here's a card I put together to get my Spring style started! I think I've stamped enough snowmen to last me a lifetime - and I'm happy to pull out my brightly coloured cardstock & papers!

This cards was SO much fun to do - especially with my new Vagabond that I got for Christmas (thank you Santa!). I can't tell you how awesome this is for a papercrafter!!

I love this new paper I picked up from My Mind's Eye (Happier). And it just called out for some MFT dies I thought! I have finally (I think) started to get the hang of my rolled flowers dies so I've put them to use here on a Mother's Day card. I find the rolled rose the easiest one - and seems to look best when made with a double-sided patterned paper. If you enjoy these - then check out Lori's GORGEOUS heart canvas that she's teaching on Feb. 5! It is stunning. I signed myself up yesterday!

I really like the touch of a little green paper flourish behind the flowers. And I always put a pearl in the centre. I've jazzed up the cameo a little too - by stamping a pattern, then spritzing with Perfect Pearls. The MFT stamp & die set comes with the crackle effect. I've added that in pink. Then I used a Unity Doily stamp to spruce up the cameo frame.

I don't know about you but I love making Valentine's Day cards. Really it is because I can use lots of Red and Pink together. LOVE!!!

Here is the second card you can make with this month's SGD card kit. We are using another one of Unity's Itty Bitty stamps called 'Life is so good'. And instead of copic markers this time I added colour to my image using stickles! I used Stardust, Fruit Punch and Christmas red. I also stamped the image using my absolute have ink for detailed stamps- Versafine in Onyx black.

Rolled roses with love

Another week flew by here at my house, Happy Friday to all of you!
Today I am sharing the card we made yesterday at Therapy Thursday! I could not help it, I had to use the rolled flower die from Marianne. I love flowers, as you may know, and I really think I need to have all the different dies....lol...o yeah, there is some slight differences and I love it all!!
So I made this card, I think it will do fine for Valentine's day or even for a birthday.
Love this colour combo, mauve pink, naturel and crab apple.
The dp is from Basic Grey, the bottom and inside are stamped with this cute little stamp from Inkadinkadoo and the naturel border is done with a embossing folder from Cuttlebug, go look in your stash and you might have bought these too a long time ago.
We sprayed the flowers with the new pearl spray from Tim Holtz, another great product.
The sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations, Inspire me.

Here is my January Kit for kids or adults. I love this new Pink Paislee Paper called Snow Day. In the kit you get the cute little die cuts to add to your layout. I had fun doing this kit. Card kit samples

Hello stampers!

I thought I'd share with you a couple of cards I made for this month's card kits with Andrea!

First of all, I am thrilled that she chose these beautiful Unity stamps. I ADORE Unity! I just love their style, elegance and versatility. Great for all occasions, for men or women. LOVE!

And I'm pleased to say that my tag efforts in December with Sir Tim of Holtz did not go to waste, as I've put some of his techniques to use here!

On this first card, I've created the background by stamping the flower in brown ink, rotating it as I went along, onto the Bazzill cardstock. I've then given it a spritz with one of my new favourite things, Perfect Pearls Mist in Heirloom Gold. Then I gave it a touch of Goosebumps Texture Spray (thanks to Anja for introducing me to this marvelous product) and allowed to dry. I've stamped the coordinating sentiment on designer paper (I love to do this rather than on plain paper) and trimmed it, then distressed the edges with Antique Linen (using the Ranger tool - if you don't have this yet - you NEED it!) - then mounted with dimensional adhesives (try these - they rock).

On this second card, I've used a few of my Sir Tim of Holtz treasures. I love this embossing folder set which is the perfect "vintage" style. I stamped the Unity sentiment in brown ink (on the designer paper) and rounded the top corners. Then I embossed it with the Postcard folder - in my new Vagabond (my Christmas present from hubby!). I've used a Tim Holtz edge punch along the bottom.

Bring on Spring!

I don't know about you, but even though it's been a rather mild winter here, I am ready for it to be over! So ready that I'm off to Sunny Mexico this week to soak up some sun! I'm afraid that I'll probably return to a whack of snow, but that's okay, spring will be here before we know it!!! Wanted to share a project made with some fun goodies that arrived in my Designer Package just before Christmas. Thanks Sheila, you're the best!!!!

I stamped the background Panel with Tim Holtz Scattered Straw Distress Ink

The little sentiment is from the AUTHENTIQUE Diction Mini words cardstock stickers

Card one from this month's card kit

Feels like it has been a long time since I have posted a card on here! I have to admit I made the most of my Christmas break and didn't get many chances to craft. Feels good to be back in 'the mode' again lol!

Here is one of the cards that SGD Card clubbers can make with this month's card kit. I used one of my fave Unity Itty Bitty stamps "Just Be You". It may be my fave cause I have the matching shirt from Unity that the amazing Angela gave me last time I saw her. I love it! And let's face it- we all need a reminder from time to time that we should stay true to yourself and who you are instead of being who you think people want you to be. I know I have been guilty of that myself. I should probably get it tattooed on my hand to remind myself of that lol!

I inked up the papers in the kit with some of the Mixed Media ink in Leather by Donna Salzar. It takes a bit to dry so be warned that you either want to set it aside or use a heat gun to dry it faster.

Confession time- I just went to find the ink to link it up for you and saw in the new items the BG Kissing Booth papers and accessories are in and I totally had to have a shopping blitz before I came back to finish this post lol! I feel okay sharing that since my order is already in and posted lol!

Well I am off to hopefully get more time crafting in today and finishing up the write up for the card kits. I was naughty today and spent the whole day and night trying to learn how to use a Mac. I am still lost so it is time to walk away and perhaps get some shopping therapy in instead!

Miniature Rose

Happy Friday!! The first Friday in 2012, I hope you all had a good week. I am having a great week with the kids home, family time, craft time, sleeping in, very relaxing.
And now we can make Miniature Roses!!! Honestly, after the Tim Holtz die we can now make tiny, little roses, of course I had to have this die!! They go very nicely with the bigger ones from Tim.
And you can have it too, Sheila is selling them! Go on over here and order yours!
As a fan of elegant cards, I would like to share this one with you. It's all done with the white Neenah paper. The border is from Martha Stewart, the tag is from Spellbinders, the middle piece is embossed with the Swiss dots embossing folder. Branches from Martha Stewart and Cheery Lynn's olive branches and the sentiment from Just Rite. Bling from my stash!

Playing with a Pretty LaBlache Stamp!

Hi there! Jeanne here today with a simply colored card decorated with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen.

I stamped the LaBlanche Bird Cage Silicone Stamp LB1176 image from Scrappin Great Deals (love this stamp!) with Black Clearsnap Mix’d Media Ink directly onto Basic Grey Little Black Dress paper. I heat set the ink and then colored the birds and leaves with Touch Twin markers ( BR97, BR103, Y41). I sponged the paper edges with Leather Clearsnap Mix'd Media ink and then did some quick double stiching on the sewing machine. I attached the panel to the card back and added the pearl "flowers" were made with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen. Easy peasy!

Sticky Back Canvas

Happy Wonderful Wednesday!

I have been having a blast playing with Claudine Hellmuth Sticky Back Canvas made by Ranger. It is safe to use for your scrap booking and card making projects. You can use it in your cricut, yes your cricut. Go in your ink jet printer, the list goes on. It comes in white or natural and 81/2x11 or 12x12.

I use 3 techniques with my flower. I used Tim Holtz tattered flowers die cut.

I transferred designer paper on to the canvas, this is called image or paper transfer. So for the bottom and middle layer I picked a designer paper and transfer the design on to the sticky back canvas. Check out the video here.
2nd technique I did was to emboss the bottom and top flower.

Last but not least I heat embossed the top flower.

Can you imagine the possibilities. Enjoy and I hope you give it a try.

Snow Peeps

What a winter wonderland out there!! So much snow has fallen in London and area over the last 24 hrs and it is still falling!! I have a layout from our January Scrapbooking kit to share with you today. Appropriately it is titled "Snow Peeps"

I used some lovely paper from Fancy Pants and Echo Park, lace from Maya Road, some die cut snowflakes, the white pearls were coloured orange with Copics, as was the Fancy Pants alpha. I love the pink colour they are originally, but it just didn't go with the picture! A close up:

I used a fabulous new snowflake border punch from EK Success, and I covered the blue flakes with rock candy stickles and the alphas have Glass Effects on top to pop them up a bit.

Hope you all enjoy your snow day today, as much as these three kids did last week!!

Good Morning and Happy New Year! I hope that you all enjoyed a safe and Happy Holiday!

I can't believe how quickly Christmas came and went and now we're into a whole new year.

I wanted to share a few cards with you today, that use some of the fabulous new paper pads that Sheila has in stock! Although she doesn't carry these particular stamps, as you know, she has a fabulous selection of stamps in her store that can be used for these cards. I just hope that you can be inspired by the layouts!

This first card used the Yummiest Paper! Smoochable by Bo Bunny. I cased this pop up card idea from my good friend Frances who found the instructions here on Valita's Blog

Isn't that mix of DP perfect for this sweet Valentine themed card?

This card features Bo Bunny Enchanted . Again, I LOVE to use these papers when creating cards with multiple Designer Papers..........the colours and scales of the patterns work so perfectly. When using Designer Papers on cards and layouts, it's important vary the scale (size) of the patterns to create a project that is well balanced and pleasing to the eye. Paper Collections make this so easy for us!!!

Lastly, I incorporate the papers from the Authentique Splendid 6x6 Paper Pad into this design, as the scale of the pattern on the main image was perfect for paper piecing! I also used the Tim Holtz Tiny Tags and Tabs Dies for the teeny price tag. The sentiment is from the Authentique Diction Mini Words Cardstock Stickers.

Happy Friday! I can't believe the year is almost over...

So you would think I had something "new" to share.....oops, I don't. This is a card we did a few weeks ago for Therapy Thursdays.

Embossing, Embossing

Good Morning Everyone,

On my card that I am showing you today I used an embossing folder and embossing powder. So double embossing.
I used my brayer to ink (Versamark) up the embossing folder. ( you can use any embossing folder, this is an old one that I had. Thought I should do something for Valentine's Day)

I placed my cardstock in the folder and embossed. Then I took the cardstock out of the embossing folder and poured the embossing powder over the cardstock, then heat embossed. Voila!!! Simple but effective back ground for my card.

Happy Friday! I am not gonna ask you if you are ready for Christmas ....either way, Christmas will be here soon, LOL!
I didn't feel like making another Christmas card, I am ready to get back in some "regular"
stamping and that is what I did.
For this card I have used a Sizzix embossing folder from the lace set, a stampset from Just Rite,
fancy tags, the roses are made with the Tim Holtz pinecone die, Labels 4 from Spellbinders,

Today I am showing a 2 page layout that I did with my scrappin buddies. I used the new Fancy Pants Winter Wonderland Designer paper. LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
I got my inspiration by Davinie's Challenge over at Scrapbook & Cards today magazine. I loved how she did the snowflakes and part of a tag. I did faux stitch lines, not fond of getting the sewing machine out.

Wanted to share a few quick and easy Christmas Tags made with the Tim Holtz Carved Ornaments Die and Joy insert

This is the longer carved ornament. I like that there are two ornaments on one die!

My Mother and I made about 180 tags in total and they were easy peasy!

I think the purple and black is my Fave Colour Combo!

I'm excited that all my tags will be handmade this year!!!!

Nellie Snellen stamps = bliss for this crafter

I have no self control when it comes to really cute stamps- none. I have long been a fan of Nellie Snellen stamps from the UK and when Sheila ordered in these beauties I literally spend to the store to grab some up. Today I coloured with Dawn Hokey Pokey and my copics. I paired it up with one of my most fave Fancy Pants 6x6 packs ever-Winterland as it is not just for Christmas at all but can be used the whole season and really even for Valentine's day.

I added some Smooch to my image as well using the combo pack of Snickerdoodle and Moonlight then added some stickles (of course) over top of the smooch colour in Stardust. I go through that colour of stickles like it's water!

I used the following copic colours:

Hair- YR20, 21, 23, E35

Skin- E000, 00, 11, R01, R20

Skirt and blue stripes on socks- BG72, 75, 78 and C7 to deepen my BG78

Sweater- R32, 34

E40 to highlight areas I wanted left white

Present- R37, 39 and G82, 85

Cheery Lynn/Marianne dies have arrived at SGD!!!

Happy Friday, ladies! I don't know if you have been to the store in the last couple of days or checked the website under new items.........beware, the Cheery Lynn dies have arrived!!

AND THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL!!! The Marianne dies came in too, and they are stunning, and not because they are from Holland, LOL!

They are flying of the hooks so...do I need to say more??

On to my card....an elegant one with the Cheery Lynn doily die, a background done with the embossing folder Tied together from Couture Creations, and the fun doesn't stop here.

The sentiment, flowers and green swirls are done with the Sizzix/Hero stamp/die set, and then I added some branches, also from Cheery Lynn. The doily, flowers and swirls were sprayed with shimmery Goosebumps, then I added some Viva Holo Iridescent glitterpen and made a bow with ribbon out of my stash, who knows where it came from.

FIRST - we have some amazing, amazing new products from the Lord Tim of Holtz himself!

When I was in the staff room yesterday, I *might* have peeked into the new shipment and *might* have flipped gently through a few things.... OK - who's kidding who - I dove straight into that box like a puppy at Christmas into tissue paper! There were tags and jump rings galore! Oh my!

And - I nearly (ok maybe I did just a little) peed my pants when I saw the glorious, unreachable DISCONTINUED Tim Holtz texture hammer! Be still my beating heart!

This awesome tool has been discontinued and as someone I know says is "rarer than hen's teeth". You use it to distress your brads and make them look vintage and worn. Looks AMAZING on copper brads, especially Tim's brads. GET ONE FAST! (not online yet - but will be today - just request one)

Also - Tim's sanding grip is here! Use this to distress cardstock, grungepaper, brads, fasteners, charms, etc. AMAZING is to take one of Tim's charms - and sand it. It makes parts of it shine! SO COOL! Cool tip: before you take your die cut piece out of the surrounding paper - sand it - only the edges will get sanded! Awesome! Watch this video from Tim to see.

AND - we have the most gorgeous tags (sprockets, trimmings, philosophy tags, ) to add to your cards or layouts or tags - distressed or not - they are stunning!

Wonderful Wednesday Tag #2

Well I am behind the eight ball when it comes to the 12 days of Christmas Tags with Tim Holtz but I thought I will still do them. So I think I have a theme going on with the tags. You will have to wait for the end product.

I didn't do the exact same thing as Tim because I don't have everything. I know, I know being a big Tim's fan, you would think that I did. Anyway I will give some of my tips of what I used or did to get close to what he did.

First thing that I didn't use was the Tim Holtz's Christmas Paper Stash Kraft Resist paper. I had the Lost & Found Paper Stash, so to make my own resist I cleared embossed the word Christmas from his stamp set Season Silhouettes. Then I used the picket fence stain to cover my tag. I used vintage photo distress ink to distress the tag. Then he used a Perfect Pearls Mist but I used Goosebumps Shimmer Texture Spray. Amazing, that's all I can say.

For the deer I used Tim's die cut Reindeer Flight. But I did not have any of the sticky back canvas so I used the sheet of the creative 2 way tape. I put this on the back of my canvas and then I could cut out the reindeer a lot easier.

Then I embellished the rest of the tag with things that I had in my stash. I am starting to let go of some of it. I know how weird is that.

Good morning!!! Less than two weeks until Christmas!! Only one more full weekend for shopping!! Are your kids as crazy as mine?! I can't believe how wound up they are already! Ah well, I have a little bit of Christmas Magic to share with you today.

I am sure by now, you all know about Tim Holtz' 12 Tags of Christmas. Wowzers, is he ever an inspiration. There were a couple of the 12 that I wasn't too enthused with the finished product but the techniques on all of them are nothing short of amazing!! How does he sleep at night with so much creative energy bursting around in that brain of his?!

Andrea here today. Just popping in to share with you a card we made at a recent Therapy Thursday. I love snow...at least until after Jan 1st hee hee.

I played with some new to me toys to make this card. I used the mini embossing folders by Lord Tim of Holtz called Texture Trades Season Stuff 3 pack of embossing folders. That is how we embossed the snowflakes right onto the paper and the popped up snowflakes are from Lord Tim's mini snowflakes die. On my card at home I also added a glittery swirl I found in my stash and then covered it with the most amazing gems from Prima. I have some in almost every colour now!

This was a great quick and easy card to make for those last minute ones you need this holiday season.

Masculine birthday, quick and easy

Good Morning, ladies! What about a quick and easy masculine card today? I love this time of the year but quick and easy sounds good to me too.

As a big fan of the embossing folders, I had to have this set from SIZZIX.

It embosses nice and deeply, and the big dots foldes is a change from the swiss dots one, which in my opinion is a winner.

The dp is from Basic Grey, out of print, other cardstock is all Bazzil, the pewter brads are from my stash.

The Sprockets are cut out with the Spellbinders set and after inking the edges, I sprayed them with Goosebumps.

It reall didn't take that long, love the quick cards, especially when you need one now!

Hello stampers!

I'm still (sort of) keeping up with Tim! If you haven't read his blog yet - it's a great read! You can join Tim Holtz as he creates his annual "12 Tags of Christmas", a new tag with new techniques every day! Today is actually Day 7 (yes I am a couple of days behind). Each day he posts videos and tutorials. It is fantastic! I have been having to go out and get more supplies periodically which has slowed me down a little.

and a close-up of the little wreath, which I was pretty proud of. It's actually grunge-board, that I've stained with distress ink and die cut with a juniper branch from the "pinecone" die! I never thought I could do this!

Hi Everyone,
Well I got tag one of Tim Holtz's 12 days of Christmas tag done. I loved making the twill tape ribbon. Love how it curls up. Because I love Glitter Ritz, I used it on my Noel instead of regular glitter. The Noel was cut out with Winter Frolic cricut cartridge.

Got my pine cones made, thanks to Anja for sharing this technique. Can't wait to try and make a rose

It was fun to try and come up with different things to use in place of what he was using. This was a good way to use up some of my stash, I need to make room for new stuff.

That is my attempt at a submission for Tag #1 along the journey with Tim Holtz for "12 Tags of Christmas".

If you haven't discovered this joy yet - check it out! I've already learned a dozen new FABULOUS papercrafting techniques - and we're only on day 5!

Here's my attempt at Tag #2.

I think I like this one the best. Of course, I didn't have half the products and supplies that he did, but it's all about improvisation, and I think I managed? In any case, I've having FUN - and isn't that what crafting is all about? Despite the glittery, gluey mess that was once my craft room might imply, I'm loving it!

Here's my Tag #3.

Maybe this isn't your year to create all 12 tags - but maybe watch some of the videos? Learn a few new techniques? I can tell you that I'll never die cut the same again! I would NEVER have been able to create this cool poinsettia before this week! And all of the paper treatments! Wow! Maybe the best part of all, is that I'm finally using some of those many products that have adorned my shelves and tabletop! Of course, if you know me (or ever speak to my husband) each and every single item is $1! (please don't forget this - or I could be in BIG trouble!).

But I challenge you - give it a try - and try out one of the techniques. You'll be glad you did!

My tags will be in the store for those of you that stop by.

Hope you all had a fabulous Sunday! Here in Kingston it was 11 degrees, which is SO warm for December!!! My day just flew by! I meant to get posting earlier, but I spent a great deal of the day enjoying the warm weather! Then I got caught up making an AMAZING Sunday dinner! Frickadiller, which is a Danish Meat Pattie, Creamy Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans Almondine and this amazing Dutch Apple Streusel Cheesecake. Thanks Clara! The Cheesecake was to DIE for!!!!...............

So I whipped up this simple layout with my latest Favourite Subject, Sweet Sydney!!! We were at the Grand Bend Flea Market this summer and I couldn't resist placing her in the seat of this vintage Kiddie Ride for a picture. I remember my Mother taking me to the Towers Department Store in Belleville and for a dime, I'd get a few whirls about in a ride just like like this. Maybe this is the one I rode in, who knows, but it sure made me smile!

For my layout, I used this fun Designer Paper from the Out of Print line by Basic Grey. Daily News is the light coloured paper behind the main image and used on the little Journalling card I made and I used Headline. I added these fun Out of Print Bloomers flowers for accents. I also got the cute little kraft envelopes from Sheila, but I lost the label on the package and can't seem to find them! If you ask, I know that someone from the store will point you in the right direction!!!!

Stamps are from The Stamps of Life and the Little Die Cut is a Sizzix Framelit Fancy label!

Sizzix and Hero Arts Fun

Happy Friday, another week gone and a little ove 3 weeks till it's Christmas! Today I am not sharing a Christmas card with you but a birthday one, because there will always be birthdays to celebrate even in the busy Christmas season.
So many new embossing folders have arrived in the store, how can one choose, they are all beautiful and very versatile, Sizzix, Darice, Crafts too, Tim Holtz, Couture Creations and more.
I picked out a Sizzix folder, one that comes in a set, called Folky Circle.
For the middle, I cut out a green circle with my standard large circles from Nestabilities.
The flowers along the bottom are stamped with green ink and the stamp from the Sizzix/Hero stamp and die set. From the same set, I used the die and stamp for the middle. The sentiment is from Heartfelt Creations, the set is called Inspire me.
Some silver dots were added with the Viva silver pearl pen and some silver Mayarts ribbon.
Don't forget that tomorrow it is the 3rd anniversary of the store and we are celebrating!!!

Wonderful Wednesday

Good morning everyone. Don't you love the snow, really getting into the Christmas spirit. Last night I did this card using the Basic Grey Winter Botanical Embossing Folder. It is gorgeous. What a simple way to make a card. You get four embossing folder in this set. Three of them are smaller, so you can layer on your card or make gift tags. I embossed first and then took the Encore Gold Metalic ink and sponged over my image. Then I took the Vintage Photo distress ink and inked the edges and the raised areas of the image. Love the effect it gives.

December Daily Albums

Good morning everyone!! It is non stop rain here in Southwestern Ontario! I can't believe how much it has rained since last night! It is a great day to cuddle in and do some blog hopping! I did some of that last week and what I found reminded me of a project that I had planned to start ages ago. (Ages being years!) Have you heard of a December Daily Album?? I was on the Fancy Pants blog last week and the design team were showcasing their takes on it. (You can read it here.)

Basically a December Daily Album is a journal, notebook, or album that you prepare prior to December 1, leaving spaces for pictures, journalling, letters to Santa, etc., that you add during the month of December giving you a complete documentation of the holiday season! The theory being you are less busy in October/November so you do the bulk of the work before the craziness of the holidays begin!

This is my year to start this tradition that if all goes according to plan, I will continue for many years to come!! I decided to take Scrappin' Great Deals' December's Scrapbooking Kit and make my first December Daily Album!! Here is a glimpse at the kit that will be released later this week:

On Saturday at the all day crop I was able to get my album pages cut out, the front and back cover are chipboard covered in patterned paper, and then I used the Cinch to cut the holes in preparation for it to be bound. I then started working on the front cover:

Needless to say I am still working on the rest!! I have two more days until December 1st!! It will be a busy couple of nights I have to admit. You can join me over on my blog next week when I will start showing the interior of the album!!

Snowmen for Christmas and time-saving tips

Hello stampers!

Don't worry - it's not too late to make some Christmas cards, if you haven't started already! You might be like me and waiting for that PERFECT inspiration to just land in your e-mail. Or for the ideal stamp to appear before you at SGD. Or maybe, like me, you are still trolling the blogs in blog-land to find the most gorgeous (and easy to reproduce of course) creation to send to your loved ones. At least, I'm guessing that's the case (based on the fact that you are reading our blog, and are therefore probably an avid crafter like myself!)

So - fear not - here is some inspiration for you - with lots of time to spare!

GREAT time saving tip - SNOWMEN!!! Guess what? They're WHITE! And what do we stamp them on ladies (and gentlemen)? That's correct! WHITE paper! Ta-da! Problem solved!

OK - now you might be slightly crafty addicted (like myself, which I FULLY support - and in fact encourage, since it is a healthy habit after all - sharing art that is). In which case, you may want to add a little more than white to your snowmen. If you are a Copic artist (if so, I LOVE you and welcome to the family) - a little C1 and C0 and you are in business! If you want to get fancy (and why not, it is Christmas after all) a little B00 or W0.

So I thought I'd share with you the snowmen I crafted earlier this year in my role on the Design Team for High Hopes Stamps.

If you've been to the store lately, you may have seen these little guys sitting on the shelves. If not, please swing by!

Another time saving tip for you - Paper collections! These companies are genius. Bo Bunny in particular - they have an entire matching line of beautiful papers! WITH coordinating stamps - chipboard - stickers - tags - you name it! Pure genius. One trip to SGD (or the website) and you're in business! They even have card KITS! I kid you not.

You'll note that most of these cards have been created with Bo Bunny Blitzen. I had a mildly obsessive phase when it first came into the store - and now have a drawer full of it - including all the accessories. After all, what would I do if I didn't like the 2012 releases? I NEED to have a good supply of course!

You may also enjoy my other new favourite which is Bo Bunny Snowfall. Equally gorgeous with tones of brown & blue. The 12x12 papers even have glitter on them! STUNNING.

So - I don't want to slow down your crafting - or get in the way of your loved ones receiving those fabulous hand-made cards this year. So I'll leave you at that.

It's about time!

Hi Everyone! Hope you're having a great weekend!!!! I am sure that it was in my very first official post for SDG that I told you I was working on this nifty project!!!! That seems like forever ago now!!! I've had it together for awhile and was just intending on doing some stamping on the acetate in the shadow box, but my white stayzon seems to have gone south for the Winter. So I nixed that plan so that I could show you this before Christmas!!!! This is a little Christmas Gift that I've made for my son Jonathon.

I started the project with a couple of things...........this nifty kraftboard box by Graphic 45 and The My Minds Eye Lost and Found Christmas Collection pack. I'm not sure if Sheila still has the kit in stock, but you can find all the fabulous papers here .

The Box has a magnetic closure and a very cool accordion album inside, that you can decorate to your taste.

I started by covering the outside and the inside covers of the box with some of the matching papers

.

I sponged Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Brushed Corduroy to all the edges, as it softens it down. Also to cut down on the bulk a bit, I used the Lost and Found Christmas Stamps (which happen to be on sale now!) to Stamp the outside edges and interior of the box.

I embellished the box and layout with some of the die cuts from the Tag sheet in the kit as well as with the My Minds Eye decorative brads.

Did I mention that I LOVE papercrafting kits? I managed to get this project done, along with 3 or 4 cards, a glass ornament and I still have a full sheet of paper that I intend to do another layout with!

This snowman is actually 'full bodied' but I only used his top half and using nesties framed him up nicely. I also used some Webster's Pages Christmas paper, twine and one of my beloved charms.

Another Twelve Hour Crop Tomorrow!!

Yep, another 12 hours of scrapbooking/card making bliss. We have another crowded house! They are only a few spots left for this monthly event! Dazzling Snowflakes

Happy Friday to all of you!
Today I am sharing another Christmas card with you. I have to admit, stickers are usually "safe" for me.....I can see them in the store and think, nice but not for me! Now. embossing folders is a completely different story...so many new ones keep coming and I can oh and ah about each one of them, LOL!
When I was looking for something quick and easy, I looked at the stickers and I have to say, they are pretty awesome!
The picture doesn't do the card justice, the snowflakes have a nice, pearl blue finish, when you are in the store next time, you should check them out.

Wonderful Wednesdays

Hi Everyone,
I hope everyone has a great Wednesday. Today I am showing a project that I will be doing at ScrappinGreatDeals today.If you want to try something new, come out to the store for 1:00pm. We will be using Glitter Ritz and Scor Tape.

I put the tape on a piece of card stock and then I ran it through the Tim Holtz's Tiny Tabs and tags die cut. When you are using your scor tape, try and keep the backing of the tape to cut out shapes. This works best when doing this technique. I used a snowflake punch to get the shape. You can use any shape you want. You take the cover off the tape, remember don't throw this piece out. I then placed my snowflakes on the tape. Tip, do not put fingers on your tape. The oil from your fngers will show and the glitter won't adhere as well.

Pour your background glitter over your tag. Brush off excess glitter. Rub glitter with finger. Once this is done, remove tape and pour your next glitter, brush of excess glitter and rub with finger. You can do this with as many colours as you want.

I used the Glitter Gone to pick up the glitter that gets all over my table.

I hope you give this a try, would make beautiful tags for gifts or make a book marker.

Flourishes, Sizzix and Fussy Cutting!

Good morning everyone!! I hope you are having a great start to the week! I have a few things to share with you today!

First off, thanks to all the lovely ladies who took my Scrapbooking Techniques class last Friday! It was wonderful working with you all and I hoped you enjoyed the class! The technique this time was "Fussy Cutting". We practiced using both scissors and cutting blades. Both have their pros and cons, but in the end both are necessary to make the most of the technique. After we practiced, I handed out some Christmas paper and we worked on putting together a little 6 x 6 collage using our fussy cut pieces.

Here is what I came up with:

Next up is a card using a Sizzix/Hero Arts Stamp set - Silhouette Vines, that comes with a matching embossing folder.

Love love love these sets!! So simple and elegant! I stamped the image using white Chalk Ink on the brown cardstock, then embossed it with the folder, and lastly used some Smooch Illuminate on the flowers and butterflies for a touch of sparkle. (Hard to see in the photo - you'll just have to come in to the store to see it in person!!!)

The sentiment and tag is a Flourishes Set - Country Charm Labels - a stamp set that co-ordinates with the Spellbinders Grommet Tags set. A close up:

I attached the tag with 3 colours of embroidery floss, mounted the brown cardstock to some cream cardstock and then to the brown card. Love the layers!

Stamping Bella Girlies!

Have you ever had a brand or style of stamp that just doesn't seem to suit you? One that no matter how many tries, you just can't get the hang of? Well, for me it was the Stamping Bellas for the longest time! I don't know why, but I just getting get the knack of them. After one particularly disasterous attempt at colouring a plump woman with large hair, I swore off these stamps completely.

Until now! Anyone who knows me well knows how much I treasure and appreciate my girlfriends! They are true gifts in life and should be appreciated because they can really make the difference between happiness and despair.

Unfortunately I've been really sick lately and am off work for a while, and to someone who is constantly on the go - this has been a tough blow for me. Always an obsessively high achiever, I'm having to take life slowly and rest a lot. Not an easy pill to swallow.

Thank you God for my wonderful friends who surround me! But especially thank you to my beloved Andrea who despite her own physical pains, spent an entire night in the hospital watching over me, and has listened to my worries and stresses without complaint or judgement.

So this card with the girls having some wine is who we SHOULD be - and will be again I'm sure. But for now, we'll be these girls with the coffee and taking it a little slower.

So I've given my Stamping Bellas another chance, and am now LOVING them! I seem to have found a groove, helped by their gorgeous new designs. And these sentiments just call out to me! They are so real life!

For both cards, I've used this brand new 6x6 paper pad "Gathering" from Authentique. I love, love, love the weight, feel, and design of this paper. It is fabulous and I'll be looking for more from this brand.

I'm also trying a more "European" flair to my cards with the dimensional flowers. These are all from Prima who've had some gorgeous new things this fall. If you follow my blog, you'll know of my obsessive love for the Prima Printery line! All of these jewels are also from the Prima line. I LOVE the colours of them.

Of course, I've used some Nesties. Not sure I could make a card without a Spellbinders Nestabilities die quite honestly!

I've stamped my girls on Copic XPress It in Memento, even though I've been experimenting with the Cryogen (still on the fence) and back to some Neenah again. I always come back to my XPress It.

More Quick and Easy Cards!

Happy Sunday! So how are you all coming along with your Christmas Cards? Christmas is coming on quickly and I need quite a few cards, so I've been playing with some more ideas to create pretty cards that I can mass produce, yet still get some variance in the look. To do this, I need to keep the cards relatively simple, using the Tim Holtz Carved Ornament Die along with the Joy Magnetic Insert. I embossed the white panel with a Paisley Embossing Folder as well as the Black Ornament, but unfortunately it's hard to see in the picture!

I liked the simple design of the card so much, I created another in a Rosy Red Colour Combination! I just used a different embossing folder. You can find a lot of gorgeous folders in TOOLS section on the Scrappin' Great Deals Site!

Sharing today the second card club members are making with their Nov card kit. It is using the Stamping Bella Snowman circle stamp. I paired this adorable stamp up with some Authentique Christmas paper and some kraft Maya road snowflakes. To add some shine and bling I used my new glitter by Twinklets and it is GORGEOUS. Sheila has in some stunning new pearls and gems from Prima that have different facets and honestly I think I bought a pack in almost every colour- they are so beautiful! I used the pearl ones on this card- love!!!

Happy Friday!! Only 5 more weeks till it is Christmas! There is still time to get your Christmas cards done and I will show you another easy one today.
Browsing through the store, I saw the EK layering punch, had to give it a try! It is like 3 punches in one. The background is the snowflake embossing folder from Darice.

The sentiment is from the Kaiser Craft Christmas set and stamped with silver ink.
As a finishing touch I added some dots with the Viva glitterline silver pen .
The paper for the snowflakes is silver metallic.

Hi Everyone,
Here is Advent Calender # 2. This one is made with the Kaiser Craft Box. I used the Graphic 45 Christmas Paper to decorate the little boxes and the back piece.
It is hard to see in the picture but I did a little paper tolling.I popped out the book on Santa's knee and made a window with acetate.
I painted the outside of the box and the inside boxes with Antique Gold acrylic paint from Deco Art.
To put the little boxes together I used ZipDry. To decorate the outside of the boxes I used the same line of Graphic 45 paper and embellishments that I had in my stash. It so nice to use some of the gems that I have collected over time.

Fussy Cutting

This coming Friday, November the 18th, I am teaching my second workshop of Scrapbook Techniques. The first workshop, we went over methods to alter cardstock to create custom backgrounds. We stamped, embossing, misted and had a lot of fun! Some of my stamps have never seen such use!! This next workshop we will play with a technique called "fussy cutting". That is the term for finely cutting out details from patterned paper:

Fussy cut elements add dimension to your layouts, another layer of interest. It is not a difficult skill to learn; you just need practice, practice, practice, but it is quite time consuming. At the workshop, that is what we will do - practice practice practice!! We will go over what scissors to use, when to use an exacto blade, and perhaps most importantly, how to look at a piece of patterned paper and see it's full potential!!

Intermediate Copic class for November

Hello stampers!

I just have to say that I am so enjoying teaching these classes at SGD. Thank you to all of you who I've met so far - and I sincerely apologize if I do not remember names - I have a memory like a sieve! It has been such a pleasure and I'm loving every minute. It really is a different way to craft and makes me think quite differently when I create my cards. What I love the most though is having a purpose (and ok, deadline) to craft.

Obviously, my latest classes have been done with a Christmas theme. My personal challenge every year is to find a way to update the old staid Christmas colours and themes. And when I find something that helps me in this quest, it is a thrill!

This month I discovered two great things
Jillybean Soup Christmas Eve Chowder 6x6 paper pad - and the
new releases by Impression Obsession stamps.

I love the paper with the little penguins - and had to find a way to use them by themselves as a key component of the card.

This image is so cute - and when you have so much white space (i.e. snow and snowman) it is really pretty quick to colour. I've accented with some Stickles of course. And I have used my beloved Nesties as I almost always do. Note the pearls done with the Viva Decor Pearl Pen in ice white - one of my favourite discoveries this year. I love self-adhesive pearls, but quite honestly my gel nails are a liability when it comes to crafting, and this makes life SO much easier!

Here's a close-up of the stamped image so you can see the colouring. Not easy to get much dimension in small spaces, but I've given it a try - on his hat and scarf.

This image I also fell in love with. I love the REAL Christmas and the fact that it is about the real meaning of Christmas, not just Santa Claus and the Disney stuff. Did you know that the image of Santa as we know was actually a creation of Coca Cola? No kidding!

Anyway - I tried to bring in some "non-traditional" Christmas colours here and some of my faves - browns and blues. I've also used some red Stickles to add a bit of punch. And the pearl pen again as above (those darned gel nails). It's hard to see here, but I've used another super cool product to give my penguins little googlie eyes! It's the Viva Decor Glass effects, which I normally use to put dew drops on flowers.

Here's a close-up of the colouring. A little tip for you - don't be intimidated by what looks like a very detailed stamp. You can definitely always colour right over the details. It is much easier than you think. You don't have to colour every tiny little detail separately for it to look great.

Christmas is coming!!!!

I can't believe how quickly the last few months have passed and how quickly Christmas will be upon us. Although we've been enjoying some unseasonally warm weather, it was actually trying to snow today here in Kingston (I was loading this post up this past Friday)............Brrrrrrrrrr. It's a sure sign that it's time to get on top of my Christmas Stamping!

For my card, I used this Fantastically Fun Die and Stamp Set from Sizzix and Hero Arts It's called Holiday Cheer Reindeer set and it makes me SMILE!...

To acheive the difference in the colours between the reindeer and their sweaters, I stamped the Reindeer Twice. First in Memento Rich Cocoa and then in Cherry Cobbler ink just to get the Sweaters.

I embossed the White Layer with my Sizzix Branches, Ribbons and Swirls embossing folder. Scalloped Punch is from SU! As far as embellies go, I got this Yummy Ribbon at Micheals. Think I might have to go back for some more! I also used Jingle Bells and a Rub on from Bo Bunny! This was such a fun project to make. I can't wait to play with it again! Hope you're enjoying a relaxing Sunday~

Hi Everyone,
I did this card on Wonderful Wednesday make & take but today I totally used different colour ink and Smooch. I used the Hero Arts Birds & Trees Textured Impressions Embossing Folder Set.. I used Penny Black Winter Wonders Clear stamp. I used Label 4 Spellbinder set to put my sediment on.

I then lightly sprayed Smooch over top of the card.
Same card different look.

Happy Friday! Let's not forget to honour Remembrance day!!
I really appreciate living in Canada!
Yesterday for Therapy Thursday,we made a little pizza box, like the one you see in the picture. I found the idea on Splitcoast stampers, you can find it HERE.
It is such an easy and fun box to make, and perfect for some chocolates or gift cards, and there are many different ways to decorate the box.
This one is done with the double sided paper from Graphic 45.
The flower is made with the Pointsetta set from Spellbinders and sprayed with Goosebumps shimmer, love that stuff.

The Pumpkin Patch

Good morning everyone!! A little drizzly and overcast here in London today. I have another layout to share that was made with our November Scrapbooking kit!

Double page layouts are just so hard to photograph!! These are some photos of a trip to a pumpkin patch with my son & nephew, way back from 2007! They look so little, in fact my youngest son is now the same age as my oldest in these pictures! Crazy how time flies!!

A couple of close ups:

Its a fairly simple layout for me, no stamping, a bit of inking, no distressing - so how come it took so long to do?? Seriously, like 4 hours!! I spent a lot of time re-arranging elements until I was happy with it. I do love how the blue of the Authentique alpha and paper just POP out from the page against the oranges & reds! It also makes the hint of blue on the May Arts ribbon stand out better!

There is my spot of brightness for you on an otherwise dreary day!!! Enjoy!!

My Favorite Things "eat the icing first"!

Happy Monday everyone!

I just got home today from a Wound Care conference in Ottawa, so sadly I've had no crafty time this week. So sad :-( I hope to get back into the groove this week as I think that was my last work trip for the year (fingers crossed).

This is a card I made for a colleague last week. I picked one of my yet uninked MFT stamps (I LOVE these cute little Innocence girls!) - and by the way - you HAVE to check out this month's release if you are an MFT fan. Oh Em Gee!!!!

I've stamped her with Memento on Xpress It. Now, I have been a faithful fan of the XPress It since it's release, however, thanks to a great lesson with Melanie Holtz the other week, I have discovered that Neeneh does in fact have some great advantages, especially for the really deep shadows that I like, and dark reds, in that it doesn't get so sticky. Great to learn! Also, my stampin' BFF Andrea, who's now on Susanne Dean's design team (so super proud of her!!!) has introduced me to the Cryogen paper which I had the chance to try at Susanne's workshop this summer - and I do really like it's shimmer effect for certain things. So I guess I will be stocking multiple papers in my supply!

I've used this really cute 6x6 paper pad "Happy Go Lucky" which has some of my favourite colours in it. And so I got to use my RV90's which I've been playing with recently. I just coloured my fave Yoga Magnolia Tilda at Andrea's house the other weekend in the RV90's and I'm so pleased with how that came out - I'll be sharing soon! And I just love anything at all with some turquoise or teal in it.

For once, a very rare thing for me, I've even decorated the interior of the card! I have discovered that I like using a softly patterned coordinating paper from my 6x6 pad to do the inside and then stamping a sentiment on it. Although more and more, I use my own sentiment (I bought a great book last month) and I just print it on my printer. Sometimes you need something pretty specific. i.e. There aren't a lot of "Congratulations on Graduating with your Masters in Wound Care" stamps.

I even used some of my very precious Prima Printery series flowers on this card! I fell so much in love with that particular line, that I now have a drawer full of all the accessories, so I won't run out. Slightly obsessive, I know - but I'm sure all of you fellow crafters can relate??

As I almost always do, I've used a Nestie to punch out my image. And then I inked the edges while still in the die. If you take one of my Copic classes at SGD you're virtually guaranteed to learn this technique, as it is one of my trademarks for sure!

I also picked up some of the new Smooch Spritz sprays the last time I was at SGD, and I've used it here. I really like the effect! I was in the store and saw women buying one of each colour - so OF COURSE - I had to have some! I do like the bottle a lot - it's glass and it's skinny. I stand it right in between my pens. SO handy.

In case you saw the photos of my new Copic case disaster by the way, I'm happy to share that I am now fully in love with it!! It's such a great traveler. I spent a whole evening happily colouring on Andrea's couch the other week, Ott light perched beside me, wine in hand, enjoying an awesome show she's introduced me to (Bedlam - it's British and it's spooky - check it out!). And clean up is so quick. No more careful slotting of markers into tiny holes. FANTASTIC!

I have to tell you that it was quite easy to make!!!! I added some Glamour Dust Glitter to the Torn Paper Snow.

Two things to share today

Andrea here on this sunny Saturday!

I wanted to share a picture of the November card kit contents and one of my completed cards. They are all packaged up and ready to go but we are awaiting the stamps for the kit from our supplier- kind of an important part of the kit lol!!! I have been itching to share this card for a few weeks now and just can't wait anymore as I love this crazy reindeer from Stamping Bella!

I used some of my Bo bunny paper from the kit to make up this card so I matched my colouring to the colours in the paper. I will include what copics I think compliment it well in the card kit instructions to help make it easy for those of you who like to match like me :)

In this month's kit we also provide cricut cut sentiments for your cards- brilliant!!! It was Sheila's idea and the reason I am sharing that is because Lori and Kim had to cut them all out and I guess they were ready to wring my neck after hee hee!!!!! So again it was SHEILA'S great idea and we appreciate the hard work as they are amazing!!! Thanks ladies!!!

Keep an eye out for the second card from the kit and also for the kits to go on sale because once they sell out they can not be reordered.

Thank you to Susan who sent me this picture so I could share it with you. It was taken by her cell phone and I think it did a pretty good job!

This is a picture of the grab bag that attendees of the punch a bunch class this weekend will be receiving. I made these up for Sheila using the Unity stamps for the Simple Stories kit generations. I just love this set!!! I especially love the doilies and they are so hot right now in the crafting world. The set even came with the sentiment you see below the SGD. Now the SGD stamped on here was using monograms from Just rite Stampers. Look Anja- I used your fave stamps! hee hee. This bag is so packed full of good stuff I am insanely jealous I am not going to the class and getting one!

Easy note cards

Happy Friday! Today I am sharing some quick and easy note cards with you, I think they are pretty cute, if I may say so myself!
They are so easy to make with the new Sizzix Hero arts stamps and dies set, here I have used
the Playful Flowers and butterflies set. You stamp your image first and then use the diecut, and you can see where you cut, no guessing, but accurate cutting right away, what you see is where the cut is made.
I cut some 3 x 3 note cards and used the 6 x 6 double side paper from Echo park, Country Drive.
I stamped with Versafine black ink for a good detailed impression.
The sentiments are from various sets of Kaiser Craft mini stamps.
I sprayed the one big flower and the butterflies with the Goosebumps Shimmer texture spray, I fell in love with Goosebumps already and now it even got better, it shimmers, wow! Then I applied some of the Viva glitter pens, I also used that on the little card with the 2 flowers.
Here you can find the ones I have used, the silver and the holo iridescent.
All the cut out images are popped up with sticky thumbs.

Thanksgiving Day

Hi! Jeanne here today with a easy peasy Thanksgiving card.

I masked a portion of the card and stamped leaves and sentiment from Heartfelt Creation's Open Falling Leaves Leaves set with Ranger Distress inks (Spiced Marmalade, Barn Door, Brushed Corduroy, Black Soot). I sponged the masked section and the edges of the card with Brushed Corduroy Ranger Distress ink. I added the lace trim with 1/8" Scor-Tape and added Burgundy Jute at the top of my card.

Scrappin' Sheila's November Layouts!!

Today we are showcasing none other than the oh so lovely & talented Scrappin' Sheila's layouts that she created with the November Scrapbooking kit!! Every month Sheila and I put together our kit with oodles of co-ordinating product from a multitude of manufacturers!! It is no secret that I love this part of my job the most and it one of Sheila's as well!! So here is the picture of the kit again:

"What I loved the most is the striking beauty of the colours … how everything went together so beautifully.

I really enjoyed adding my Glimmer Glaze … I painted my chipboard arrows, added accents throughout with the Glaze – love how quickly it dries!

My glaze pen – used it throughout as well – Andrea got me hooked on this amazing little pen!

Of course the Distrezz It all Machine – LOVE this gadget!!!

Really tried my hand at “fussy-cutting” this month and have to say, I fell in love with the results!

Really enjoyed the lace & ribbon in this month’s kit …. To adhere the lace I found tiny zots to work best!

And of course …. Inking …. Gotta ink everything!! Love getting messy with my ink!!"

This month I am going to show you my advent calenders. This one is from last year. Hopefully this will give you some ideas. I used BoBunny Christmas paper and chipboard from last year but wouldn't this years work out perfectly. I took a clipboard and had my husband take off the clip part of the clipboard, so that I could decorate the clipboard without a lot of cutting. He then used screws to put the clip part back on.I got him to do this before I put the other embellishments on. This way you know where you can place things. I put Velcro at the back of the clipboard, then I put Velcro on a baggie. This is where I kept the extra numbers. The tags have magnets on them so they will stick to the metal plate that is behind the spot where the numbers sit. I hope this all makes sense.

Natural Beauty

Autumn is on its final stages here in Southwestern Ontario! The leaves have changed and a lot are still clinging to their branches!!! Autumn is my favorite season by far. LOVE it. And I love the latest scrapbooking kit that we are releasing today! It's theme is Autumn Journeys.

Sheila and I had a wonderful time this past Saturday scrapping with this kit! It was a full house at the 12 hour crop!

Here is one of the layouts that I created, titled "Natural Beauty":

Seriously, I could not have gone wrong with this photo. How stunning is my young niece??!?!? I used both a Tim Holtz Sizzix die - tattered leaves and a Spellbinders set - foliage, to re-create the fern crown on her head. The resin birdhouse is from Prima, and it inked up nicely with some distress ink, the birds are die cuts and are included in the kit, as is the beautiful crocheted lace. Two sets of alphas are also in the kit, one from Authentique and the other is Bo-bunny. Christmas card with Copics and Nestabilities

Hello all - and Happy Halloween!

As I'm getting my little guy ready to be a Ninja for Halloween, I'm starting (slowly but surely) my Christmas cards! I have my ideas in my head, but haven't actually started mass production yet. I know, I know. It's time to get moving - after all, I do make 50 per year.

This card might just get me inspired to start my work finally!

I really love a Christmas card that is all about Christmas, but I don't particularly love the old fashioned colours of deep red and pine green. So when I saw this colour scheme by My Mind's Eye (12 Days of Christmas) it was love at first sight (or stamp)! And anything that incorporates my beloved teal & turquoise colours is a bonus!

I spent at least a couple of hours colouring this scene, and really enjoyed it. I had lots of fun adding layers to the different sections and trying to really get some contrast in the colour shading. I always start with choosing my image, then the paper, and then I match my copics to my paper. These colours just make me happy!

I didn't use any unusual colour pairings here. I stuck with natural blending partners. But if you're like me, and always looking for colour inspiration (or if you have this particular paper and want some guidance) here are my colours:

I have used my beloved Nestabilities by Spellbinders to accent the focal image. I'm not sure I ever make a card that doesn't use at least one die! I've punched out the Nativity scene with an oval, and then I used my new lattice die to punch out the accent paper.

For once, I've even decorated the interior of my card! This almost never happens, but there was the most perfect paper in the My Mind's Eye 6x6. And I used it to add the sentiment as well.

Wanted to share this quick and easy project for you featuring Tim Holtz Movers and Shapers Silly Jack O' Lantern set, Pumpkin Jack Movers and Shapers and Cat and Raven Die Set.

To make this card simply double your cardstock and place the creased edge of the paper inside of the die cutting area, so to create a small fold.

Cut the Eyes, Mouth , Nose and Stem out with Black Cardstock, add white gel pen highlights and adhere to the front of the Pumpkin Card

Sponge the edges of the Pumpkin with Tangerine Ink

Stamp the sentiment on the inside of the card with Licorice Ink and attach the Cat.

Using your Honeycomb Paper and cutting in the direction of the arrows, cut a ghost shape. Adhere the ghost to the inner fold line using a strong adhesive. Attach small black rhinestones for the eyes.

Such Fun!

Smash book in Stock- have you started smashing yet

SGD has the sooo popular Smash Books in stock in many of the different colours. Which is good and bad for me.

Good- they come in different colours. I like different colours.

Bad- the different coloured books are different on the inside so of course I need each one.

Or is that maybe another good thing? hee Hee.

I have to tell you about how popular Smash books are not only with us crafty peeps but also for kids and teens. I bought these books for my 2 daughters. One likes to craft..one not soooo much. Well they are both onto their second books as they are so full if they put anything else in it may explode! We have bought some for their friends and it has proven to be just as popular with anyone we have given it to. I think it is because it is old school scrapbooking as shown in the video above. They cut out their 'Cody Simpson' and 'Justin Bieber' pictures from their magazines and fill the books with their fave pictures. They smash in all their movie tickets, pamphlets from places we've visited, restaurant menus, doodles, good notes from teachers and notes from friends. Instead of the collectables that used to float around in bags and drawers they have a place in their book to treasure forever.

My oldest recently had a birthday party and 2 of her friends brought their Smash books to the party so they could add to it as the party progressed. I DID NOT MAKE THEM DO THIS! Even though it is something I could totally see myself suggesting to the kids hee hee. They smashed in flyers from the spa we went too and parts of their gift bags. Girls after my own heart.

I am sharing this story because I am so surprised at how amazing these books are for birthday and Christmas gifts. The books and the add-ons you can buy are so inexpensive that you can grab a few items to get them on their way- starting with smashing some of their birthday cards right into their book :).

And so another Friday with a card from me, a Christmas card again, there are so many new beautiful Christmas products in the store, I can't help myself.
This card is a bit bigger than the size I usually make, the finished size of the card is 6 x 4 3/4.
I started with 2 red pieces of cardstock ( 5 1/4 x 4) and one of them I embossed with the Crafts Too Pointsetta frame embossing folder, after I did that I cut out the second largest die from the Classic Rectangle large Spellbinders.
The second piece of cardstock goes right under the embossed one with foam tape along the sides to give it a raised effect. The white piece in the middle is 3 x 2 1/4, embossed with the Cuttlebug dots embossing folder and matted with a piece of metallic gold paper.
The sentiment is from Just Rite Happy Everything tag kit, this kit actually comes with the dies to cut it out and a clear block, super handy. I used Versafine olympic green ink for a crisp image.
Then I made the pointsetta with the Layered Pointsetta from Spellbinders, I cut out 3 sizes twice and 3 green leaves, I inked all the edges with the gold ink, be careful, this needs to dry a little bit. I put the flower together with the 450 glue and the punch a bunch flower tool kit and added some dots with the Viva gold pearl pen.
Then I framed the red with the gold, 5 5/8 x 4 1/8, and then with green, 5 3/4 x 4 1/2, on a white card, 6 x 4 3/4.
